We hope this newsletter finds you well and that you are enjoying the last days of fall. The month of October has been a quite busy month for TACCI. On October 4th, TACCI met with Representatives of Alaca Chamber of Commerce and Industry accompanied by Representatives of  Adiyaman Chamber of Pharmacists to inform them about the investment opportunities in the US. On October 19th, TACCI President and Chairman of the America Region Committee at DTIK hosted more than 250 business people in New York to discuss the changing role of the Turkish Diaspora. On October 26th, TACCI Premium Member Lazzoni celebrated the grand opening of its first store in New Jersey with a party that was participated by TACCI Board Members.

Our October Events

 

On October 4th 2012, TACCI hosted a meeting with Representatives of Alaca Chamber of Commerce and Industry accompanied by Representatives of  Adiyaman Chamber of Pharmacists with the participation of TACCI President Celal Secilmis, TACCI Vice President Sevil Ozisik, TACCI Treasurer Ali Kurtmer, TACCI general member Derya Taskin and TACCI Director Cagsenin Ar.

 

The meeting was started with the introduction of both parts. First TACCI President Celal Secilmis talked about TACCI's role as a mediator to favor Turkish firms in the process of entry to the US market and mentioned the sector specific events TACCI organized previously. Later on, TACCI Vice President Sevil Ozisik informed the guests about the emigration and investment agreements between Turkey and the US and gave specific details about those agreements. The representatives of Alaca Chamber of Commerce and Industry were also given information about the extent of American grant companies to provide benefits.

 

  

At the end of the meeting everyone expressed their pleasure about this meeting and to express their pleasure Mahmut Yildirim presented Alaca Chamber of Commerce and Industry's gifts to TACCI President Celal Secilmis.

 

The World Turkish Business Council (DTIK) Meeting on October 19th, 2012

  

On October 19th, 2012, the World Turkish Business Council (DTİK) founded in 2009 under the Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEİK ) hosted a meeting at Conrad Hotel in New York, with the participation of more than 250 people representing the Turkish business community and Turkish professionals living in the US. 

 

Among the hosts of the meeting were; Mr. Muhtar Kent, President of DTİK High Advisory Board, Mr. Rona Yırcalı, Chairman of the Executive Board of DEİK and Board Member of DTİK, Mr. Hikmet Ersek, Member of DTİK High Advisory Board, Mr. Rahmi Koc, Board Member of DTİK and Honorary Chairman of Koç Holding, Mr. Celal Seçilmis, Chairman of the America Region Committee of DTIK and President of TACCI. The meeting was honored with the presence of Mr. Mehmet Simsek, Minister of Finance of the Republic of Turkey.

 

 

 

Delivering an opening speech at the meeting, Mr. Celal Seçilmis, Chairman of the America Region Committee of DTIK and President of TACCI, expressed his pleasure to have the participants of the conference and he stated he would be greatly pleased to have their active support to the Council. After the opening speech, Mr. Hikmet Ersek, Member of DTİK High Advisory Board, underlined the importance of projects that should be implemented by the Turkish Diaspora in the United States to contribute to the growth of good human resources in Turkey. He also noted that the actions by the Turkish Diaspora should be directed with the collective initiative which is effective and sustainable.

 

The next speaker, Mr. Muhtar Kent, President of DTİK High Advisory Board, stated  that he is so proud of having praises and appreciations forTurkey's rapid development and economic initiatives from high amount of people. He also addressed the Turkey's improving brand value and called for an active support to DTIK to promote more achievements.

 

 

Mr. Rona YircaliChairman of Executive Board of DEIK, gave a brief speech about the importance of Turkish Diaspora gathered under the same roof. The last speaker, Mr. Simsek, Minister of Finance of the Republic of Turkey, started his speech by praising Turkish people living abroad for their contributions to promote Turkey's nation brand. Along his speech, he mentioned the improvements in Turkey's economy with the8.8 percent GDP growth in Q2 of 2011. He also informed the audience that Turkey was ranked the world's 43rd most competitive economy in the World.


TACCI General Member Lazzoni's Paramus Showroom Grand Opening Party on 
October 26th, 2012


 

TACCI Premium Member and a global furniture company Lazzoni that specializes in contemporary furniture and design opened its first New Jersey location in a 5,000 sf store at 68 Route 17 in Paramus. The company threw a cocktail party on  October 26th between 6 pm and 9 pm to celebrate the grand opening of the new showroom. TACCI President Celal Secilmis and his wife Olcay Secilmis, TACCI Vice Presidents; Tahir Erimli, and Mahmut Topal and TACCI Secretary General Guldal Sisman participated to the event.

TACCI & TADF Leadership Seminar on November 11th,2012

  

Turkish American Chamber of Industry and Commerce and the Federation of Turkish American Associations, are organizing a joint leadership seminar for members of the Turkish community in the United States with the leadership of  Qualified Life Coach and Counselor İrem Erol. The seminar is designed to help individuals and managers boost the effectiveness of the performance appraisal process. Participants in this seminar will have chance to critically examine definitions of work/life balance and learn strategies to improve their work/life balancein order to enhance their quality of life.
