The month of September has been a very productive month for TACCI. On September 11th, TACCI hosted a meeting with Representatives of Nazilli Chamber of Commerce to talk about possible future collaboration between both parts. On September 16th; 

 

TACCI and Turkish American Society of Civil and Environmental Engineers (TASCEE), 

Middle East Technical University Alumni Association, 

Istanbul University Alumni Association USA (IUMEZ USA), 

Turkish-American Architects Engineers and Scientists Society (MİM) 

 

organized a joint brunch at Turkuaz Restaurant to provide a great networking opportunity among the communities. TACCI President Celal Secilmis presented TACCI in Turkey in several important events where business representatives from all over the world met. You can read more about these events and our upcoming events in our newsletter.

TACCI President Visited Turkey in September

  

TACCI President Celal Secilmis visited Turkey in September and he met several important people from different organizations and the Turkish government during the large event that marks TOBB's 60th anniversary. Mr. Secilmis also visited Canakkale and Van to attend meetings and seminars on the Turkey's new incentive package within the scope of TOBB President Rifat Hisarciklioglu's trips all over Turkey to introduce the new scheme offered to businesses by government.

 

On September 13th, 2012 Mr. Secilmis attended the reception for TOBB's 60th anniversary held in Istanbul  hosted by TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu. TACCI Vice President John Driscoll, TACCI Board Member Bahadir Inozu, and Turkish Commercial Attache in New York Serhan Kara were present at the event to represent TACCI. Following this event, he attented TOBB International Business Forum which is organized on September 13th, 2012 in Istanbul at the Four Seasons Hotel with the participation of the WCF representatives and Transnational Chambers as the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) World Chambers Federation's (WCF) General Council Meeting and the WCF Transnational Chambers Board Meeting was already taking place in Istanbul on September 12th and 14th, 2012. 

 

"TOBB International Business Forum" which brought together approximately a thousand businessmen from 87 countries was an excellent opportunity to meet with the high level representatives of chambers, international business associations, and international organizations as well as the outstanding figures of the global business world. 

 

 

  

Panel discussions at the event hosted by the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) focused on the growing position of the private sector during a period of global economic crisis and recession that is dominating the world's trade environment. Business representatives from all over the world have agreed that the world needs more business cooperation to overcome the crisis.

 

 

  

The event ended with the gala dinner hosted at the Ciragan Palace Ballroom. TOBB President Hisarcıklıoglu cut the 60th Anniversary Cake along with TOBB Board Members and guests.

 

After the completion of the Business Forum, foreign guests were taken on a boat trip. Upon landing at Ciragan Palace, the guests were greeted by a Janissary Band and torch bearers. Followed by a Sema ceremony in the garden and a show put on by "Kuzeyin Usaklari" in the ballroom.

 
 

 

Members from the Nazilli Chamber of Commerce met with TACCI Board Members on September 11th, 2012 within the contex of their business trips between 4th and 12th September, 2012 to Los Angeles, Las Vegas, New York to explore the business opportunities in the region, consult our common professional expertise in the field, and, meet prospective business partners.

 

 

TACCI Treasurer Ali Kurtmer and TACCI Director Cagsenin Ar hosted the group at TACCI's office at 5th Avenue. Nazilli Chamber of Commerce was presented in the meeting by Tacettin Pirinc , Gaziantep Chamber of Commerce President and chamber's several members. The meeting started at 4 pm and both parts introduced themselves, along the meeting Mr. Kurtmer informed the guests about TACCI's history and mentioned its mediator role between Turkey and US. There were several business people from various sectors among the group that is representing Nazilli Chamber of Commerce Board Members. They asked questions about those sectors to have a better understanding on the US market and how much it differentiates from the Turkish market. At the end of the meeting everyone expressed their pleasure and future collaboration was foreseen by both parts.

 

 

Open Buffet Brunch on September 16th at Turkuaz Restaurant 

 

  

Turkish American Chamber of Commerce (TACCI), Turkish American Society of Civil and Environmental Engineers (TASCEE), Middle East Technical University Alumni Association,Istanbul University Alumni Association USA (IUMEZ-USA), Turkish-American Architects Engineers and Scientists Society (MİM) organized a joint brunch on September 16th, 2012 to develop unity and dialogue among the communities. The event took place between 12 pm and 3 pm at Turkuaz Restaurant. Participants of the event spent a nice Sunday afternoon together in a friendly atmosphere with their families. The event provided a great networking opportunity among different communities.

  • The World Turkish Business Council (DTIK) America Region Meeting On October 19th, 2012

The World Turkish Business Council (DTİK) founded in 2009 under the Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEİK) is organizing a meeting on October 19th, 2012 to bring together Turkish businessmen, associations, institutions and similar world business organizations under DEİK's roof.

 Among the hosts of the meeting are; 

 

Mr. Muhtar Kent, President of DTİK High Advisory Board, 

Mr. Rona Yırcalı, Chairman of the Executive Board of DEİK and Board Member of DTİK , 

Mr. Hikmet Ersek, Member of DTİK High Advisory Board, 

Mr. Celal Seçilmis, Chairman of the America Region Committee of DTIK and  President of TACCI

 

The meeting is taking place on October 19th at Condrad Hotel at New York and will be honored with the presence of Mr. Mehmet Simsek, Minister of Finance of the Republic of Turkey.

Eskisehir Chamber of Commerce

 

Economic And Cultural Realtions Between Eskisehir and Russia Must Make Headway

   

Vlademir Ivanovsky, Russian Ambassador to Turkey, stated in the meeting held with Harun Karacan, President of Eskisehir Chamber of Commerce, that they intend to carry the economic and social relations a step further and at this point, they will do their full share of work. TheAmbassador delivered the letter of invitation to cooperation sent by Kostroma Governor, Sitnikov.

 

Eskisehir Chamber of Commerce continues to organize international meetings for increasing our city's export at full steam. Harun Karacan, President of Eskisehir Chamber of Commerce, has come together with Vlademir Ivanovsky Russian Ambassador to Turkey and the accompanying delegation. Tofik A. Melikov, Commercial Representative of Russian Federation, ETO Administrative Board and Assembly Council, companies of Eskisehir intending to do business and commerce with Russian Federation took part in the meeting held on Monday,September 24. Speaking in the meeting, President Karacan expressed his pleasure for welcoming the delegation of Russia's Embassy to Ankara and told that Russia is an important partner for Turkish business world because the cooperation between two countries increases day by day. Manhattan Chamber of Commerce

 

New Data Shows New York is the Top Metropolitan Area Exporter
 
The U.S. Department of Commerce's International Trade Administration (ITA) today announced new export data that shows the New York/Northern New Jersey/Long Island metropolitan area's merchandise exports increased by $20 billion - 23.5 percent between 2010 and 2011 - growing from $85.1 billion to $105.1 billion. This extraordinary growth has helped New York to remain the top metropolitan area exporter for 2011.
Key merchandise export categories for the New York metropolitan area in 2011 included miscellaneous manufactured commodities (which include worked diamonds, jewelry, and medical equipment), chemicals, primary metal manufactured products, computer and electronic products, and transportation equipment. Top export markets for New York included Canada, Hong Kong, China, Japan, and the United Kingdom. For more please click here...

 

Turkish Airlines

  

Turkish Airlines recorded 164 million TRY net profit in the first half year of 2012.

 

First half year sales revenue increased by 36%, reaching to 6,7 billion TRY.

Turkish Airlines' 1H 2012 consolidated financial statements were reported to Istanbul Stock Exchange. Compared to the same period of 2011, sales revenue increased by 36%, reaching to 6,7 billion TRY. Net profit increased by %142 to 164 million TRY. For more please click here...
