PRESS RELEASE

February 24, 2014. Perth Amboy, New Jersey.

 

The first annual fundraiser for the The Donald and Alease Hilliard-Chapman Foundation will take place on Friday, February 28, 2014. The event features the debut of the One Woman Show, "A Piece of Lee" performed by Leah Joy Hilliard. Leah Joy is the granddaughter of Alease Hilliard-Chapman, who recently passed away on August 26, 2013, and Donald Hilliard Sr. Leah Joy is the proud daughter of Bishop Donald Hilliard, Senior Pastor of Cathedral International in Perth Amboy, New Jersey. The fundraiser begins with a special reception at 6:00 p.m. and a show time of 8:00 p.m. at the Crossroads Theatre, 7 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick, New Jersey 08901.

 

As an educator, Leah Joy earned a B.A. and M.A. from Eastern University. Having traveled to Germany, Italy, and South Africa, Leah Joy's voice has been enjoyed by Grammy award winners and producers. Pastor John Gray will host the evening.

 

The Donald and Alease Hilliard-Chapman Foundation was established to assist low-income families enroll their children in pre-school and head start programs. Donald and Alease believed that all children deserve a rigorous education in a safe and secure environment. The goal of the fundraiser, named in their honor, is to assist as many children and families as possible to enhance their educational opportunities in order to successfully prepare them for kindergarten and beyond. Additionally, the Foundation provides scholarships to college students pursuing a degree in the field of education. The Donald and Alease Hilliard-Chapman Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization. All donations are tax deductible.
