June 18, 2013
O God, who gives us times of refreshment and peace in our busy lives; bless, we pray, the campers and staff of the Senior High Youth Conference; give them fair weather for their activities, and grant that they may use this time together to strengthen their bodies, renew their faith and build up the community of your church.
All this we ask through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Revel in being an Episcopalian! Join this fall's diocesan read.
Bishop Franklin invites everyone in the diocese to read the book Unabashedly Episcopalian by Bishop Andrew Doyle. It is his hope that Bishop Doyle's words will help to spark energy, creativity and new ideas as our diocese strives make an impact in the 21st century.
Through a special arrangement with the publisher, we are able to place a bulk order for this book and offer it to members of the diocese for just $10.00 per copy. But first, we need to know how many books to order!
You may order your book individually or through your church if the church plans to place a congregational order. The August 1st deadline for the receipt of orders is the same either way.
Books will be delivered to churches around Labor Day. No books will be mailed to individuals.
Download the order form.

Thinking about your stewardship campaign?
Our diocese is a member of The Episcopal Network for Stewardship (TENS), an organization committed to inspiring generosity and faithful discipleship. A primary benefit of membership is that all congregations throughout the diocese have access to the 2013 Stewardship Narrative Series, a program designed to complement and support the fall annual giving program. This includes: - Seven Bulletin Inserts to include Worship Bulletins, E-Newsletters, E-Blasts beginning October 6th through November 10th. Each reflection includes discussion questions that can be used for adult formation gatherings.
- Pledge card and proportional giving chart
- Prayers of the People to be used in liturgy over the course of six weeks
- Prayer over the Pledge Cards to be used at the in-gathering of pledges.
- Introductory Letter from the Rector/Vicar
- Introductory Letter from the Stewardship Chair
- Letter of Encouragement from the Senior Warden
We give thanks to the ministry of The Episcopal Network for Stewardship for helping us to plant the seeds of faithful giving in our congregations, with the hope that we all flourish in faith. These resources are password protected as they are intended for use by dioceses who are members of TENS. If your congregation wishes to review and/or use them, please contact the Rev. Jerre Feagin at 716-881-0660 x19 or email him jerrefeagin@episcopalwny.org and he will share the username and password with you.

Is this your mission?
Are you Trsutee-worthy?
This year diocesan Convention must elect a cleric to serve as a Trustee of the Diocese. This calls for a person who can manage diocesan funds with prudence; oversee Diocesan properties and investments; and to help discern loans to congregations.
If this speaks to you, please consider running for Diocesan Trustees starting in 2014. There will be two clergy positions open, each for 3-year terms. There is one stipulation however- members of Standing Committee may not serve concurrently as a Trustee.
What qualities should be brought to the table? One needs an understanding of financial matters; and comfortability dealing with investment advisors. One should also have the ability to take a long-term view of diocesan finances.
If you feel called to submit your name for nomination, you may download the Nomination Form from episcopalwny.org/diocesan-convention.
Peace and Blessings,
The Nominations Committee

Planning is well underway! Registration is Open
The traditional Convention Packets have been mailed. However, it is important to note that our diocese is joining the overwhelming number of dioceses across the church that conduct Convention Registration online. Clergy, lay delegates and alternates, as well as visitors may use this portal to secure their Convention Registration. If you are a parish administrator who is simply registering your church's clergy and delegates, be sure to select the "Not Attending Convention" option under fees. Please note that online registration does not supplant submission of the Lay Member Certificate required by church canons. Electronic files of this certificate and all other Convention materials currently available may be downloaded from
