2013 Pioneer Award

We all know that Martin Luther King Jr. was a great leader. His legacy lives on today and inspires many that change is still possible and ever present. Urban Ed's president after 12 years of dedication, service and commitment to making sure the hardest to serve has a better life, was honored for her ongoing and relentless giving to the community.

In Honor of Black History Month, Roxanne, along with two other recipients, received the 2013 Pioneer Award presented by the Washington Wizards and Amtrak at the Verizon Center on the evening of Wednesday, February 27th during half time. The Amtrak Pioneer Award was created to recognize African Americans within the Washington, D.C., metro area who, through resolve and perseverance, have positively impacted their community. Urban Ed is among this honor. If you missed the game, no worries, click here for more details and to view the live half time show.
