| VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR STUDENT HEART SCREENINGS | | |
Once again, LT is teaming up with the Young Hearts for Life on November 7 and 8 to provide students with an opportunity to be screened free of charge for Sudden Cardiac Death, the most common cause of a heart condition known as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. A simple, quick and painless heart scan can detect this serious heart condition. To accomplish this program, 250 volunteers will be needed over the two day screening. Volunteers must commit to working a minimum of four (4) continuous hours on one or both of the screening day(s) and attend a training session scheduled for Wednesday, November 6.No experience is necessary for volunteers.
Volunteers should register via the LT website. To access the Young Hearts For Life Volunteer Form, you must first create an online user account, sign in to the website and then click the Volunteer link. Click the link above for all of the details.
Parents will have an opportunity to schedule a heart screening for their student(s) later this month. |
| PRINCIPAL FRANSON TO RETIRE | |
After 10 years of service to District 204 and its students, Principal Dave Franson, LT Class of '76, announced his plans to retire at the end of this school year. Under his instructional leadership, LT experienced record-breaking academic success, and during his tenure, LT achieved several athletic state titles and increased co-curricular participation. He will be long remembered as an excellent administrator and an exceptional example for the entire student body.
The district has determined a timeline to replace Franson and is in the process of accepting applications for the position. Before the selection committee reviews applications and interviews potential candidates, the district would like input from students, staff, and parents on characteristics LT's new principal should possess. We welcome you to share your thoughts about a variety of qualities essential to a successful principalship:
- Personal attributes and philosophy
- Education and experience
- Student focus
- Leadership skills
Please email Superintendent Dr. Timothy Kilrea with your thoughts and comments about the characteristics and qualities you'd like to see in LT's next principal. |
| SCHOOL CLIMATE SURVEY TO LAUNCH OCTOBER 21 | | |
As part of our effort to improve the experiences of all students, LT is once again conducting a district-wide climate survey. The survey is designed to gauge perceptions about the district and measure performance in a variety of areas.
The information you provide will benefit all students and will allow us to collect data to benchmark trends and denote areas of excellence and areas for improvement.
To assist with data gathering efforts, the district is working with School Perceptions LLC, an independent firm with expertise conducting school surveys. Parents will receive an email from School Perceptions on October 21 with all of the details. All survey data is returned to School Perceptions and your identity will remain completely confidential.
Be on the lookout for an email from School Perceptions and please take a few moments to complete the survey. |
