September Program: Networking Meetup Networking is key in any industry, but especially in technical communication where your next job or contract can come from someone you know. Bring your business cards and resume, if you like, and join us on Wednesday, September 18 at the RAM Restaurant in Rosemont for an evening of networking!
We'll provide heavy appetizers and discussion topics, and you come prepared to share your thoughts and ideas. We'll also be giving away a free registration to a future chapter meeting along with an STC Chicago mug. |
September AC Meeting The STC Chicago Administrative Council meets on the second Saturday of every month to discuss chapter business. All members are welcome to attend. September's AC meeting takes place on Saturday, September 14.

STC Chicago Technical Communication Competition - Judges Needed!
Get ready for the 42nd Annual Technical Communication Competition!
We're now recruiting judges for this year's competition. If interested, complete the Judges sign-up form, and someone from the Competition Committee will contact you. If you have any questions, feel free to email competition@stc-chicago.com.
Why you should be a judge for the STC Competition Judges have a unique opportunity to review entries from different categories and industries. Entries can be websites, manuals, help documentation, newsletters, etc. Past entries have come from industries as diverse as aerospace, manufacturing, agricultural, software, and medical associations. Seeing such different work can be educational as well as inspiring. You also get to interact with other judges and benefit from their experience. |
Now Accepting Entries for the STC Chicago Technical Communication Competition
We're now accepting entries for the 2013 competition. Visit our 2013 Call for Entries page to read about the kinds of materials you can submit. All entries are due by October 19.
Now is the time to start looking at the work you've produced over the past year or so and decide if you're going to enter the 2013 Technical Communication Competition. The categories for entries are:
- Training Materials
- Informational Materials
- Promotional Materials
- User Support Materials
Entries are subject to all restrictions listed in the General Information and Rules document. |
Chicago eLearning & Technology Showcase Recap
If you attended the eLearning & Technology Showcase this year, you know what a great event it was. Closer to 400 instructional designers and technical communicators gathered at Northwestern University on August 20 for a day of educational sessions and networking. Be sure to look over the following items:

The STC Tryout is an opportunity for current members to invite colleagues and friends to experience STC at a fraction of the cost of an annual membership.
