Gain knowledge of the essentials of government contracting, a description of unique characteristics and terminology of government contracting, as well as the various roles of government personnel. Join us for this two-day Fundamentals of Government Contracting course.
 

At the end of two days, you will: 

  • Be able to define and discuss the government's legal environment
  • Describe the appropriations cycle from Congress to contractor, while meeting the government's procurement goals
  • Be able to discuss accounting systems requirements for contractors
  • Understand the differences between laws and regulations, and list those that affect the federal procurement environment
  • Become familiar with the major components of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and other, supplemental research materials
  • Identify multiple types of compliance requirements, reviews, and the associated penalties for non-compliance
  • Explore various procurement types, and discuss the processes affiliated with each: micro purchases, small purchases, simplified acquisition thresholds, competitive, set-aside, and sole-source procurements
  • Recognize the components of a typical government contract, and discuss the use and applicability of specific contract clauses
