Greetings From the Director
|
| Congratulations to all children, who participated in the Every Hero Has a Story summer reading program and collectively read for 57,614 minutes. This is a terrific accomplishment and we were pleased to greet such enthusiastic readers at a wide variety of fun children's events over the course of the summer. My library colleagues and I wish everyone continued success as the new school year begins.
Thanks also to all adult participants of the Escape the Ordinary reading program which was based on the book, The Boys in the Boat: Nine Americans and Their Epic Quest for Gold at the 1936 Berlin Olympics by Daniel James Brown. Over the course of the summer we enjoyed a dynamic presentation by Olympian rowers, John Biglow and William Becklean, a film screening of the documentary, Row Hard, No Excuses, and several book discussions. A special thanks to Nashoba Brooks Bakery, Reasons to Be Cheerful, and Debra's Natural Gourmet for donating raffle prizes.
Mark your calendars early for the 2015 Concord Festival of Authors.
We look forward to seeing you often this fall at the Concord Free Public Library!
Best wishes,
----Kerry Cronin
