The Sharon Historical Society & Museum Announces the Opening of
"What's the Big Idea 2?"
Juried Exhibition and Sale
The Gallery @the SHS - November 5 through December 16, 2016
SHARON, CT: The Gallery @the SHS of the Sharon Historical Society & Museum presents "What's the Big Idea 2?", a return of last year's popular juried exhibition and sale of small scale artworks by local artists, which runs from November 5 through December 16, 2016. The show is once again juried and judged by Sharon residents Carl Chaiet and Lynn Kearcher. Cash prizes will be awarded to three works selected by the judges. In addition, guests who attend the show's opening night will have the opportunity to select their favorite work of art which will receive the "SHS Crowd Pleaser" award. An opening wine and hors d'oeuvres reception and awards presentation to which the public is invited free of charge will be held on Saturday, November 5 from 5:00 to 7:00PM.  All purchases support the Sharon Historical Society & Museum's mission.
The Gallery @the SHS is located at the Sharon Historical Society & Museum, 18 Main Street, Route 41, Sharon, CT.  The Gallery and Museum are open Wednesday through Friday from 12-4, Saturday from 1-5 and by appointment. Balance and Fall Prevention: Second Class Added
Noble Horizons has added a second free class to its free Balance and Fall Prevention series. In addition to the ongoing Tuesday 10-11 am class, Terre Lefferts will teach a class on Thursdays from 10-11 am through November 10. A second round of Thursday 10-11 am balance classes will begin December 8 and continue through December 29. Tuesday's 10-11 am weekly fall prevention and balance series will continue through December with the exception of November 15. The classes, which help improve balance, increase agility and develop muscle tone, may be joined at any time, although registration is necessary, at 860-435-9851, ext. 190 or www.noblehorizons.org.

The Salisbury Rotary Club again sponsored its free Election Day Breakfast gathering at the Congregational Church across the street from Town Hall, designed to bring community members together after voting.  Donations to a free will offering will go to Albert Schweitzer Hospital in Haiti to support victims of the most recent devastating hurricane.

Visiting Rotarians were the Salisbury Rotary Club's 11/15 luncheon speakers, sharing theirexperiences and support helping to rebuild lives and communities in Nepal following lady year's devastating earthquake.  Alma Kruh on left (Simsburry-Granby Rotary) and Barbara Spiegel on right (Torrington-Winsted Rotary) told interesting and inspiring stories, along with a video and slides.  Thorn Weldon (bottom left), a friend of Alma's from Salisbury, was a guest.  FMI - http://www.ahelpinghand.org/
