LAND OF FIRES NATURE TRAIL

Rocky Hill School has received a generous donation from the Eldredge Family in honor of Lu Eldredge (Class of 1954) to restore the 1.5 mile Land of Fires Nature Trail on campus. The new trail will feature QR-codes at sites of historical and natural significance. When completed, students and visitors will be able to collect data in the field in order to learn more about the diverse habitats on campus.

On Saturday September 27th (1pm-5pm) RHS is calling for volunteers (ages 12+) to help clear the Land of Fires trail of brush and assist in the installation of trail signs. Youngsters are invited to join us on a beach clean up and childcare will be provided as needed. Students are eligible for community service hours for this project. All volunteers will be treated to a pizza party provided by RHS to show our appreciation for help with this project!

Please save the date and join our community in this campus-wide effort. Volunteers will be able to sign up online in the coming week. If you have any questions, please email Rochelle Devault.

Upper School
Stu Flanagan '05 visited the Upper School on Monday morning to share some information about the new solar panels on the roof of the Flynn Academic Center

As one of the principals of Newport Renewables, Stu helped to secure a grant to install the solar panels which will reduce significantly the electricity bill for that building. In fact, it was a revelation to the Upper School community that during his brief talk the solar panels were supplying all of Flynn's lighting. Upper School teachers look forward to exploring ways to integrate this new technology into their curricula.

ENVIROWEEK 2014

The 8th grade class had a remarkable trip to New Hampshire, which is the centerpiece of its #Enviroweek2014 program. On the way up, the class took a detour to Purgatory Chasm in Sutton, MA for the first time, and many students checked out "Fat Man's Misery" (above). On Friday, the class worked together and reached the summit of Mt. Monadnock and were rewarded by spectacular views of southern New Hampshire.
