2013-14 Book List & Summer Work
Next year's book list is now available for all divisions. Please note that this list is subject to change. Each year, the Department of Education collects and distributes a listing of textbooks used in all public schools in the state of Rhode Island. The purpose of this list is to meet the requirements of General Laws 16-23-2 and 16-23-3, which provides for the loan of textbooks to students enrolled in non-public schools in Rhode Island. Parents should contact the school department in their town to confirm the procedure for borrowing textbooks.
Moving Up Day We celebrated Moving Up Day on Thursday, June 13 in Sharpe Gymnasium. This is the annual celebration of the fifth and eighth grade students' successful completion of the Lower and Middle Schools as well as their academic achievements. Click here for a list of award winners.
Academic Awards Academic Awards were held Thursday, June 13 in Sharpe Gymnasium. This annual event celebrates the academic and co-curricular talents of Upper School students. Click here for a list of award winners.
Commencement The Class of 2013 received diplomas at Commencement last Friday. The keynote speaker was Navyn Salem, of Edesia Global Nutrition. Lily Hanlon addressed her classmates as valedictorian and will attend Boston College in the fall. Nick Charbonneau presented the class gift, a donation toward renovations of the arts facilities and library. Special honors were given to ACE Director Holly Cotta, who received the SanAntonio Family Faculty Achievement Award; and trustee W. Michael Sullivan and PTL President Sue Withers were presented with the Headmaster's Award for Community Service (renamed this year in honor of Dick Barker '54).

ACE IT IN AUGUST - Reading and Learning Skills Summer Camp
Grades 4-6 with Holly Cotta, Director of ACE August 12 - 16 | 9:00 AM - Noon Fee: $350/child
This camp will focus on foundational reading skills as well as study and organizational skills. This will be a confidence building and supportive academic environment for children of all learning levels entering grades 4, 5, and 6. The trained staff and beautiful 84-acre waterfront campus will ensure a fun-filled week with hands-on activities, games, and snacks.
Space is limited to 10 children so register early!
The program will include:
- Fluency training and practice using the program Read Naturally
- Reading comprehension skills
- Orton-Gillingham and Lexia review to enhance decoding skills through syllable types
- Study and organizational skills including researching, note taking, report writing, and summarizing

Matt Sarnoff '04 received an Apple Design Award on 6/10/2013 for his work on Evernote for Mac. The Apple Design Awards recognize apps that are well-designed, state of the art, and innovative. These apps are not only engaging, intuitive, and compelling but they also take advantage of the latest hardware, OS releases, and technologies to offer rich functionality, high performance, and extensive system integration. Way to go Matt!
