Senior Seminar Dinners
There are only two more volunteers needed, click here to volunteer. If you have any questions about the dinners, please contact Fraser Gilbane.
Senior Seminar On Tuesday evening, Matt Olerio spoke to the senior class about business start-ups and the different businesses he has started, including an open-air fresh produce stand, a pop-rock band (Hi-Beams), a real estate development company, an ergonomic backpack company, and his present company, Roba Dolce Inc. of which he is the CEO. Following his talk, he fielded questions from students, and then met with them in groups of six or seven. Each group had eight to 10 minutes to pitch their own business proposals and receive feedback from Mr. Olerio. It was a fitting second session of the Senior Seminar to help the 12th graders prepare their proposals for the final session on Thursday, February 14. Next week's speaker will be Russ Hall, who is president at Cooliance Inc., and co-owner and president of Perro Salado Restaurant in Newport. Career Day Thursday, January 31 | 8:30 - 10:30 AM | Flynn Academic Building The School and the Alumni Association are pleased to have brought back Career Day, with the goal of exposing juniors and seniors to the real-life college experiences and career paths of 14 Rocky Hill alumni. Honoring MLK
The Middle School celebrated Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. last Friday with each class learning about and researching a different aspect of the Civil Rights Movement. The sixth grade focused on Dr. King and Rosa Parks. The seventh grade watched a documentary on Emmett Till, followed by an in-depth conversation about his death, the acquittal of the men charged in his murder, and that being one of the pivotal events leading to the Civil Rights Movement. The eighth grade class researched and presented notable Americans who have shown courage in trying to achieve equality and equal justice for all. They then watched and discussed a video on The Birmingham Children's March.
Jody Cicchese's advisory group held a brief bracelet fundraiser, in conjunction with the MLK celebration this past week, raising more than $100 for the URI Center for Non-Violence and Peace Studies. Live peacefully!
