Friday, November 9 | 11:00 AM | Sharpe Gymnasium Parents, grandparents and other friends and family members who have served our country are invited to join us as special guests at a school-wide ceremony led by the Middle School Student Council. All others are invited to attend. All students who participate in scouting type activities are invited and encouraged to wear their uniforms for our observance ceremony as well. Tickets will be $5.00, with proceeds allocated to support the Performing Arts Productions this school year.
Head's BlogRead more. Congratulations!Head of Upper School Rich Dempsey and his wife Mary welcomed a baby boy into the world on October 26. Richard Edward Dempsey, "Teddy," measured 17.5 in. and weighed 4 lb., 5 oz. Mom and baby are home safe and sound!

College Search 101 for Seniors & JuniorsTuesday, November 13 | 7:00 - 8:30 PM | Flynn Lecture HallCollege Search 101 is the official start to the college process for juniors and their parents. Families will get an overview of the college search and application timeline and learn how to avoid common college search pitfalls. This event is mandatory for juniors and parents, but all Upper School families are welcome to attend. Contact Annie Reznik for more information.

National Recognition for Seniors This fall, officials of the National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced the names of high achieving students from the 58th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. Students enter the competition by taking the PSAT/NMSQT during their junior year. Over 1.5 million juniors were considered for the 2012 awards and Rocky Hill School is pleased to announce that three seniors earned recognition through this national program.
- Nicholas Cicchetti was named a National Merit Semifinalist. Nick scored in the top 1% nationally on the PSAT administered during his junior year. Fewer than 60 high school students from Rhode Island were named National Merit Semifinalists. Nick completed an application for continued participation in the competition to be named a finalist which could earn him a college scholarship.
- Jeannette Stacey was named a National Merit Commended Scholar. Jeannette scored in the top 5% nationally on the PSAT administered during her junior year.
- Elias Bello was honored by the National Hispanic Recognition Program. Elias' score places him in the 98th percentile nationwide among Hispanic SAT testers.

MS Dance TOMORROW | 7:00 PM | Campbell Center Admission is $5.00. There will be plenty of snacks. Drinks are $1.00. Guests are welcome, but students bringing a guest must fill out a Guest Information Form and bring it with them to the dance.
Eighth Grade Night in the US Thursday, November 8 | 5:30 - 7:45 PM | Campbell Center Dinner in Campbell Center for eighth grade parents and students followed by an introduction to the Upper School program.

Lions, Tigers and Bears - Oh my!
Mrs. P.'s first grade class recently enjoyed a day at Roger Williams Park Zoo. The focus of the field trip was to gather research for their animal families project, including comparing and contrasting the special features, habitat/shelter, food/food source, and family life of various animals. The students had a wonderful and productive time.
5th Grade/8th Grade Spooky Project
Mrs. Goldstein's 5th graders and Mrs.Cicchese's 8th graders worked together to compose spooky Halloween stories on IPads. Treats and spooky music added to the event.

US art teacher Ruth Clegg has a series of solarplate monoprints on display at her "As I See It" art show. The show runs November 2 - 28 at the Gallery at Central Congregational Church in Providence with an opening event from 5 - 8 on November 2.
