A big thanks goes out to all of the parents, students and faculty/staff volunteers who helped make Spirit Week and Homecoming such a success, especially the PTL Homecoming Chair Stephanie Adam. The event raised $4,437 for the US student council, ceramics program and the PTL.

We were pleased to officially dedicate the Outdoor Harkness Table at Homecoming. The table was sponsored by the parents of the Class of 2012 and several members of the class were on hand Saturday to help cut the ribbon!
 
Fall Classic Follow-up

Veterans Wanted

Dine In
Parents who would like to eat lunch in Campbell Cafeteria can purchase entree and/or salad vouchers from the Business Office.  Moving forward, parents will need to present a voucher to the dining services staff before partaking in lunches.

Talent Search
The following students qualified for the 2012-2013 Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth - Talent Search by scoring in the 95th percentile or higher on a reasoning section of a nationally-normed test, either in mathematics or reading comprehension. Qualified students who apply to the Talent Search can take the College Board SAT and the ACT tests. These tests are given as above-grade-level tests to better assess the mathematical and verbal reasoning abilities of highly able students. It is quite an accomplishment for our students!

This coffee will focus on the Eighth Grade Exposition program and process.

Archive-It Project
Middle School students will be participating in a project of the Library of Congress and the Internet Archive. Along with 10 other schools across the US, Rocky Hill students will be selecting and archiving websites that they feel are important to today's youth. These sites will then be available for people in the future to see what today's Rocky Hill students thought was important on the Internet. The program will kick off on Monday with a webinar with the Library of Congress, the Internet Archive, and the other participating schools.

Scarecrow
Belinda Johnson's third grade class made their scarecrow out of rope and constructed it like a corn husk doll and then clothed it with woven materials. The project was related to their curriculum - Native Americans in Social Studies and weaving in art. 

LS Math Night

A fun night of games and math as students "teach" their parents the Singapore approach to mathematics. There will be games, snacks, and the opportunity for one lucky child to win the honor of being Head of Lower School for a day!

The entire Lower School dresses in costume and parades throughout the campus! The children wind their way to the Upper School where they will enjoy a guest storyteller! The festivities end with a parade back to the classroom where students celebrate with a class party.

Bookmark Project
K-5 students are participating in the International School Library Day Bookmark project. Students will be making and exchanging bookmarks with schools in other countries. Grades K-1 will be exchanging bookmarks with the students from the Escola Basica de Carregosa in Carregosa, Portugal. Grades 1-2 will be exchanging bookmarks with the students from Osnova Skola Cazma in Cazma, Croatia. Grades 3-5 will be exchanging bookmarks with the students from the British School of Costa Rica in San Jose, Costa Rica.

Big Win
The boys' JV soccer team defeated St. Thomas Moore 7-0 last week. Daniel Samudio '16 had one goal and three assists. Jared Barroso '16 had one goal and one assist. Nathanael DeMoranville '16 scored on a header. Brian Thornton '15 had two assists. David Golding '14 scored on a penalty kick and Michael Levy '14, Ziqiao Wang '15 and Benjamin Lanowy '16 also scored. Douglas Cochran '16 made more than 10 saves for a shutout in goal.
