Weight Loss Hint--2 Keys To Prevent Holiday Party Weight Gain  
Outsmart the Buffet
When dinner is served buffet-style, use the smallest plate available and don't stack your food; limit your helpings to a single story. Go for the simplest foods on the buffet, fresh fruits and vegetables and shrimp cocktail are good choices. Watch out for sauces and dips.

Limit Alcohol
Avoid drinking too much alcohol at holiday parties. It's not just about calories but about control. If you drink a lot you, won't have as much control over what you eat. If you feel out of place without a drink sip water or club soda so you have something to carry like everyone else.
 
 
Nutrition Hint--Avoid Banking Calories  
Cutting back all day so you can indulge at an event that night only sets you up for a pig-out.

Why? You're freaking starving! "It's easy to get out of control when you're faced with high-calorie choices," says Tanya Zuckerbrot, RD.

Be sure to eat your three squares and a couple of snacks. Aim for lots of fruits and veggies, whole grains, and lean protein.
 
Metabolism Retraining Hint--Start Your Day Out With A Bang!     
Exercising in the morning can ensure better behavior all day long, according to a study published in the journal Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise.

Using brain scans, researchers found that when women worked out in the a.m., they not only moved more the rest of the day, but they also responded less to pictures of tempting food compared with the days they didn't do a morning workout. The upshot: fewer cravings for high-fat fare.
   
Recipe of the Week--Turkey Feta Spinach Burgers (By Allison Crisp)     
Turkey Feta Spinach Burgers
1 pound lean ground turkey
½ to 1 cup old fashioned oats...
2 large egg whites
10 ounces chopped frozen spinach
1/2 - 1 cup crumbled feta
1 dash salt
1/2 teaspoon minced onion
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 dash black pepper

Gather ingredients. Thaw and thoroughly drain spinach. The best method I've found is wringing it out by hand.
Add all ingredients into a large mixing bowl.
Combine with your hands. Do not over mix.
Form into 8 patties. Preheat griddle, is using.
Heat until cooked through. Mine took about 9 minutes. Make sure and use non stick cooking spray.
