A Healthy Conversation--Lack Of Sleep Makes Us Fat  By Donna Krech

If you have trouble falling asleep, wake up several times a night or wake up and can't go back to sleep, you are sleep deprived which is proven to make us gain weight easier or make it impossible to lose weight.

One study found out that 15% of people who sleep 5 or 6 hours or less were more likely to be overweight, obese or diabetic sooner than those who got 7 hours or more. Healthy sleep is at 8-9 hours. In the same study, 30% of the group gained 30 pounds over a 10- 15 year period and the only variable was sleep.

There are three reasons this happens...Click here to find out what they are.

Weight Loss Hint--Do More Yoga

Most people respect yoga's stress-busting and flexibility-enhancing yoga-studio.jpg power, but not many of us realize it facilitates weight loss. In fact, a recent study found that yoga devotees have a lower body mass index (BMI) than other exercisers do. Some reasons why: Yoga is best done on an empty stomach and can build muscle (depending on your preferred poses), which boosts metabolism. And it encourages mindfulness, which includes paying attention to whether you feel full.

Nutrition Hint--Three Shocking Metabolism Boosters

The 3 foods mentioned below my have a surprising effect on your metabolism

There is a powerful nutrient found in sesame seeds - lignans - has been shown to reduce fat storage in your body.

In a recent study, the researchers found that women who consumed more lignans in their diet had lower BMI measurements and lower body fat mass.

Lignans are also associated with better use of blood sugar, and improved insulin sensitivity.

Plus, sesame seeds have been shown to boost metabolism due to their levels of proteins and essential fats.

A couple other surprising foods that increase metabolism are yellow peppers and eggs (I see an omelette in your future). Yellow peppers are full of fiber which is an abundant source of vitamin C which is extremely important when it comes to fat loss.

You see, vitamin C leads to the production of carnitine, which may help your muscles use more fat for energy.

Result: faster metabolism.

The reason why eggs are so important for boosting your metabolism lies in the high-quality protein that they contain.

Eggs contain all NINE essential amino acids, therefore enabling your body to build and maintain lean muscle mass stores.

And the more muscle you have, the more calories your body can burn and use for energy. This boosts your metabolism, therefore preventing excess calories from being stored as fat.

Metabolism Retraining Hint--Take Advantage Of New Fall TV

Psyched for the return of your favorite shows? Instead of curling up like a couch potato, consider hitting the gym during your favorite shows to watch them while you work out. If you get bored after 20 minutes on the treadmill, tuning into a must-watch episode may even motivate you to prolong your workout. Experts recommend a minimum of 2.5 hours of moderate-intensity exercise a week, but many Americans don't get enough. Maybe the new season of your favorite show will help get you going.
