About a year ago, I cut this quote out of a magazine; "Deep inside you, there is a person who refuses to be kept deep inside you. GO YOU!" It really spoke to me at the time, because I was at a point in my life where I knew I was settling in so many ways. My professional and personal life were not where I knew they could be, and I felt like I was going through the motions instead of really pushing for what I wanted. I came to Fusion in September of 2012 and from that point on, everything began to change.

 

The Thin & Healthy program gave me a concrete plan of what to eat and how to challenge my body in new ways that worked like nothing else ever has for me. I began to feel so empowered thanks to the great coaches and staff. They knew the person inside of me that was trying to break out, and they pushed me to be my best instead of settling for what was "good enough". I've lost 64.5 inches went from a size 16 to a size 10!

 

For anyone out there who wants to try this program but feels doubtful, for whatever reason, let me just encourage you to try it! Weight Loss Hint--How To Burn 11 lbs of Fat This Year 

 

Bike riding is a great summer activity that offers you a number of health benefits. Contrary to normal perception, cycling does not only improve the muscles in your legs. This also helps increase the mobility of hip and knee joints, lets you build stamina, improves your cardio-vascular fitness and of course allows you to lose weight. Based on study, having a steady cycling enables you to burn about 300 calories per hour and if you spend 30 minutes on bike riding every day, expect to burn about 11 pounds of fats in a year.

  

 

 
Nutrition Hint--Protein & Weight Control 

 

Quality protein is an effective weight control tool because of the satiety factor and its ability to keep you full for longer periods. It also balances out carbohydrates by preventing insulin spikes that cause energy loss and sugar cravings.

 

Protein helps to maintain muscle mass which is important in the fat burning process.

 

Good choices include:

Recipe of the Week--Healthy Summer Potato Salad 

 

In the past month I've been to several cookouts and graduation parties and one thing they all have in common (aside from lots of desserts) is there is usually a big bowl of potato salad sitting there tempting me to dive in. Here is a healthy potato salad recipe you will be sure to love!

Healthy Summer Potato Salad

2 lbs. potatoes, peeled and cubed
1 stalk celery, sliced
½ small onion, diced
2 Tbsp. apple cider vinegar
1 packet sugar substitute
¼ c. fat-free mayo
¼ c. fat-free sour cream
2 Tbsp. mustard
1 tsp. Mrs. Dash
1 tsp. dried Chives

 

Boil potatoes until fork tender, drain. In a small mixing bowl, whisk together vinegar and sugar substitute. Mix in mayo, sour cream, Mrs. Dash, and chives. Combine with potatoes, celery and onion. Cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours.
Serves 8
 

 

 

Bonus Recipe--Lemon Pie
Here's a cool and refreshing treat to beat the summer heat!
 

Lemon Pie

 

2 packages T&H vanilla pudding supplement

1 container (1/2 ounce) sugar-free lemonade drink mix (crystal light)

4 packages sugar substitute

2-¾ cups fat-free milk

1 container (8 ounces) fat-free frozen whipped topping, thawed

2 (9-inch) graham cracker crusts

 

Combine the first three ingredients in a medium bowl; stir well. Add milk; beat with a wire whisk until thickened; gently fold in whipped topping. Spoon into graham cracker crust.

 

Cover and chill for at least 3 hours.

 

Makes two pies

 

Serves: 16                                                       Fat grams: 7.4

Phase: 3, 4                                                      Protein: 4.2

 

You may substitute sugar-free vanilla pudding in place of T&H supplement, although best results are achieved using supplements.
