Good News of Great Joy!

It's hard to believe but after 25 years of singleness, I am engaged to a wonderful, godly man named Ron Hershberger. This month I thought I would do something different and share answers to some of the common questions we are asked.

How did you meet?   Although we both attended the same church, Living Word Community Church, our paths never crossed until two years ago. We met when we both signed up for the same leadership class. After a few months, Ron asked me out. Since I didn't know him very well, I was hesitant. I took my own advice about seeking godly counsel and asked for input from a person who knew both of us well, my former singles' ministry leader, Vicki Scheib. Upon her recommendation, I accepted Ron's invitation. We've been dating ever since.

When are you getting married?  We have not set a date. It might be a long engagement. After we marry, we will probably live in my house and therefore both of us need to do lots of downsizing.  I've taken over, and filled up, the whole house since Kyle left for college 12 years ago.

What kind of work does Ron do?  Ron was a youth minister for 30 years but is currently working in construction. He also teaches one evening class at Living Word Community Church in the Discipleship program. He would love to get back into fulltime ministry someday.  He says, "It has been exciting to also assist Georgia in her speaking and writing ministry."

Does Ron have children? He has two sons and one daughter.  Rachel is in the process of earning a master's degree in Dietary Wellness, and Zack and Andrew are finishing their bachelor's studies at Millersville University.

Ron and I have much to be thankful for this Christmas. Although we are tempted to get caught up in the busyness of the holidays as well as plans for the next chapter of our lives, we remind each other to stop and cherish this wonderful time of year.

My prayer for you is that the busyness and distractions of the holiday season take a back seat, so you too can enjoy refreshing moments reflecting on the beauty and joy of Christmas.

Merry Christmas and have a wonderful start to 2014.

It costs nothing and means everything:

 the gift of encouragement

Recently, I received several emails from coaching clients sharing the difference I made in their lives in 2013.  Expensive gifts would not have meant as much to me as knowing I was able to partner with God in helping them get unstuck and move forward toward their dreams or goals.

Who has made a difference in your life this year?  Take a few minutes and let them know how much you appreciate their positive influence in your life.
