Illinois Mayors Visit Danville through Saturday
The Chicago Blackhawks Band poses with John Jansky's speed painting of Babe Ruth
Danville Mayor Scott Eisenhauer, President of the Illinois Municipal League, is hosting over 40 Illinois mayors and their spouses this week in Danville for their summer board meeting.  The group will participate in several special events through Saturday including a Splash and Dash at Lake Vermilion, a tour of Downtown Danville featuring the Walldog Murals and historic Fischer Theater, and a trip to the Bunker Hill Historic Area at Kennekuk County Park. The agenda also includes a visit to local museums and will provide time for golf and shopping in between their meetings.  Wednesday night, the group attended a Danville Dans game at historic Danville Stadium with special guests John Jansky and the Chicago Blackhawks Band. Jansky performed a speed painting of Babe Ruth in less than 6 minutes, and the band performed popular songs throughout the game. State Representative Chad Hays and Champaign Mayor Don Gerald even joined the band for a few songs! Mayor Eisenhauer has spent the past year planning for the four day event which has allowed a special opportunity to showcase the city to officials from across the state.
