Intense, interval-style workouts-brief bouts of very hard exercise broken up by periods of recovery-have been shown to improve the health and fitness of people who exert themselves for only a few minutes a week. Such efficiency is alluring, and has helped this kind of conditioning attract widespread media attention in recent years (including this column).

Healthy Schools Program Training


 

 

Thank you to everyone who attended the National Training from the Alliance for a Healthier Generation on the Healthy Schools Program conducted by Melissa McDonald on February 24th. It was great seeing all of you there! The Healthy Living Training Team at the UA has signed the agreement with the Alliance to be able to bring the resources to AZ Schools. This will be the first in a series of train the trainer opportunities provided by the National Trainers from the Alliance.

Kids around the world are "walking to the moon" as they get in shape and learn about space exploration. It's all part of Mission X, an annual six-week international fitness challenge going on now. You can get kids involved anytime, and ignite new enthusiasm for fitness, nutrition and science, with the Train Like An Astronaut program. Nutrition to Grow On

Spring is upon us! And with that comes a new planting season. Lesson 2 in this curriculum features a garden activity that children can get involved in. The activity discusses the importance of preparing soil for plants to grow.

APS Foundation Grants 

Deadline: Rolling 

Through Corporate Giving, APS supports nonprofit organizations with a 501(c)(3) Internal Revenue Service tax exempt status through cash and/or in kind services. APS supports local communities in five strategic areas: health and human services, community development, education, arts and culture, and environment. 


 

Whiteman Foundation Grant

Deadline: Rolling

Whiteman Foundation works with nonprofit organizations principally in Maricopa County, but will entertain highly solution oriented nonprofits anywhere in Arizona. The Whiteman Foundation currently focuses on early childhood endeavors/projects.
