Sarah Smelser to present works at Luther College

 

An art exhibit of original prints created by Sarah Smelser, associate professor of art at Illinois State University, will be on display Feb. 24-March 21 in the upper level of the Center for Faith and Life on the Luther College campus. Smelser's works are about an abstract sensibility; referencing cartography, the body and cycles in nature. She draws heavily upon personal experience, songs she has heard, private jokes, anecdotes and poems, when creating her works. Read more... 

Tickets still available for CSS Simon Shaheen Ensemble

 

Simon Shaheen, famous for his melodic blend of traditional Arabic sounds with jazz and Western classical styles, is bringing his ensemble and a vocalist to perform in Luther College's Center for Faith and Life Main Hall, at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13. With a complement of six musicians and a vocalist, Shaheen mesmerizes listeners with his brand of Middle Eastern-jazz fusion.  Read more...
