The Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) announced today that former Luther College softball player Kelsey (Kittleson) Millonig (St. Ansgar, Iowa / St. Ansgar) has been named the Duane Schroeder IIAC Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the 2011-2012 academic year.

Johanna 'Joha' Olson, Luther class of 2001, passed away    

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Johanna "Joha" Olson, Luther College class of 2001, who passed away last night after battling for more than a decade with brain tumors. One of Johanna's friends put it best, "the angels are getting their workout in this morning." We will update the Luther Facebook and Luther Athletics Facebook pages with information on arrangements and where condolences can be sent as it becomes available. 


The fourth annual Oneota Film Festival has announced that is will present 10-15 sets of films including international award winners, as well as panel discussions with filmmakers, specialists and experts. The fourth annual event, which focuses on the critical issues of our time, is set for Jan. 18-20, hosted by Luther College. Read more 




Poet Athena Kildegaard, who will teach at Luther College in January, wrote a love poem every day for a year. That labor of love resulted in her recent book, "Cloves & Honey." In her first book, "Rare Momentum," the poet composed 62 Fibonaccis, formal poems based on the mathematical sequence of the same name. Read more 


Luther College recently received a $19,500 grant from the Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Foundation. The grant enables the college to conduct a series of 21 focus groups, called "listening posts," in cities throughout the United States to gather firsthand feedback regarding Luther's recent comprehensive campaign and future efforts to strengthen a culture of philanthropy.
