Answering the Call
| Julie Kumble, Interim CEO |
During this month of Mother's Day and graduations, of bulbs pushing upward and buds bursting open, I'm filled with a sense of gratitude. I want to rush up a mountain like Julie Andrews in "The Sound of Music," arms wide open, and burst into song in corny, schmaltzy glory!
Look around! Look at our mothers and the women who have been like mothers to us. Look at the graduates, our younger sisters and brothers who have worked so hard and to whom we've said, "You're smart, you're going places, I believe in you." This is a month of celebration, promise and gratitude.
For the Women's Fund it's also a time to answer the call. We are finalizing selection of our newest grantee partners, answering the call to support each of the four western Massachusetts counties in advancing social change for women and girls.
Thank you, Women's Fund Friend, for celebrating the women in your life. I invite you to keep the celebrations and gratitude going right through to the end of the month at the May 29 graduation for the 38 women completing our Leadership Institute for Political and Public Impact. We honor all of these incredible women along with four other women of distinction.
Join us on the bus to the Massachusetts State House with other committed women on Advocacy Day on May 21 and celebrate our Standing on Her Shoulders honorees and photo exhibit.
Finally, take a few minutes to read about an extraordinary mother/daughter pair of LIPPI graduates. Virginia and Carol Constant are answering the call to their passions in ways that will make you want to celebrate them and sing, with your arms wide open.
Warmly,
Jules

Will You Answer the Call?
This week, our staff and volunteers are placing calls to friends of the Women's Fund, asking for participation in our effort to collect 300 gifts of support, of at least $30 each, in three days. The first 100 gifts of $30 are being matched.
We hope you'll answer the call. Give today at bit.ly/WFWMgive or call (413) 529-0087, x10.
Your support helps us prepare girls and women to lead.
