Dear MLEPC Members and Friends:

In this letter, I bring our attention to two events at church that both include food and worship. Worship is essential to our well being as Christians. Food is essential to our happiness as human beings. We do both worship and food very well at MLEPC!

Sunday Morning Worship with Communion
The first is our Sunday worship this weekend which features the Lord's Supper. I hope every Sunday is a wonderful opportunity to come into the Lord's Presence with fellow believers, friends of MLEPC, and guests both to worship and to be renewed in our daily walk of faith. Let's continue to make every Sunday at MLEPC a priority on our schedules.
Communion Sunday nonetheless adds another special dimension to our gathering. It puts particular focus on our belief that "God so loved us that He sent His one and only Son, so that as we believe in Him, we shall not perish; rather, we shall enjoy everlasting life." In communion, we retell the story of how God so loved us with a compassion that reaches to the deepest depths of our sin and need and then lifts us up through Christ's death and resurrection.
Not only does the Lord's Supper remind us of what Christ did for us to communicate God's love; it further strengthens us in faith. By His Spirit, Jesus is with us at the table to empower us for the journey of life in Him. So, I encourage us this Sunday to set aside other possible activities and to gather around God's table both to worship Him and to receive His blessing.

Family Fusion
The second event featuring both food and worship is Family Fusion, held each Wednesday night from 6 to 8 p.m. through November 16th. We begin with a wonderful dinner provided at the low price of $5 for adults and $3 for children. You simply can't beat it. It's a great time to touch base with people you know and to reach out to newcomers who frequent the dinner. This year along with food and fellowship, we are adding a short inspirational devotional during the dinner hour.
Then from 7-8 p.m., adults head to the sanctuary for an intimate time of worship featuring old and new songs, a short teaching time, testimonies & interviews--all to refresh us for the latter part of the week. The theme for this fall is Now That's a Good Question. We are looking at interesting and challenging questions that we and others ask about our Christian Faith. During the 7-8 hour, we also include nursery, children's ministry, and youth ministry--something for everyone!
I finally want to add an invitation and encouragement to our regular members to come to Family Fusion. We are getting many visitors, for which we thank the Lord. However, participation from our active membership is sparse. MLEPC members, this really is a golden opportunity to be fed (literally and spiritually), to encourage your children in faith, and to be strengthened in Christ for the back part of the work week. I ask us not to miss this truly fine opportunity each week to "fuse" with our church family.

So, I hope to see you all in worship this Sunday for the Lord's Supper. I hope to see you all on Wednesday evenings this fall from 6 to 8 p.m. for Family Fusion. Let us taste and see that the Lord is good as we faithfully gather in the name of Christ.
