Dear MLEPC Members and Friends, 

 

Here's my forecast for the Christmas shopping season. A cold front will sweep in, deluging us with advertisements for Christmas gifts that will promise to entertain us, gifts that will make our lives more convenient, gifts that will taste good and feel good.  

 

We are a people of much pleasure...but little joy. Where did all the joy go? Beware of solemn, mirthless sanctimony. John Wesley noted, "Sour godliness is the devil's religion." The angels proclaimed "good news of great joy" for us at the first Christmas.  

 

This Sunday we'll be examining - and experiencing - joy. Come and find out what robs us of our joy and where joy comes from. We find new life in the One who promised "that your joy may be full."
