Dear MLEPC Members and Friends,

I am honored to write the pastoral e-letter this week as we all prepare to embark on another week of mission and service for His glory - Mission:POSSIBLE 7. I am proud of this congregation and humbled to serve as the Coordinator for this amazing week. We have been doing God's work in our own backyard for the last seven years. When we work to rehab houses, work with the homebound or institutionalized, sew dresses, work on community projects, landscape yards, collect items for the needy, prepare food for the hungry, we do this because God himself calls us to mission. We answer his call to:

  • Involve ourselves in His mission.
  • Personalize what He is most passionate about.
  • Glorify Him.

Why do we do this? Because it is what God wants us to do. In Luke 4:18, he says: "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free,"

This is one week out of the year where we are truly able to put into practice what we are told to do each and every day. We are given a time and place to really serve our fellow man and to proclaim the great news of our Lord's gift to us.

How can you participate in this week and how can you really connect with God's mission during this week of service?

  • By being His voice as we encourage the elderly, infirm or needy.
  • By being His hands as we sew dresses for the children who need protection or work on houses.
  • By showing His mercy in providing for the poor who need food and clothing and shelter.
  • By His patience by listening to a weary commuter and praying for him.
  • By being His feet as you take the Gospel message to the lost.
  • By showing His heart as you hold the hand of a child at our outreach VBS.
  • By singing His praise to those who never hear His word.
  • By just being there, showing His love for others.

You have the amazing opportunity during this week to connect with God's mission - to help people, His creation, establish a personal relationship with the Lord. So do you feel like you are being called to participate in Mission:POSSIBLE yet? Do you need more proof?

God created us for good works. That's you and me! Ephesians 2:10 confirms it.

"For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." We are all created with a specific plan in mind. I believe that serving during Mission:POSSIBLE is part of His plan. There are a number of things that the Lord may have used to get you to consider serving.

  • A desire to be a part of the week
  • Curiosity
  • A testimony that tugged at your heart
  • An opportunity to use your gifts and skills
  • A desire to share the experience with family or friends
  • A love for children, or the aging, or a particular people group
  • A 'hands on' way to simply give something back to the Lord
  • The encouragement, or pressure, from someone
  • A desire to help people

Please take some time to pray about the places where you are being called to serve during Mission:POSSIBLE 7. There is still time to sign up. You will be part of something much larger than yourself...God's own Mission.

In His Service,

Noelle Conover
