Offering

Thanksofferings for Generosity

This past Sunday for Mother's Day our church collected a special offering for the Presbyterian Communities of South Carolina. As a result of your generosity, we will give $2,255 to this fund that assists residents who need financial assistance in order to remain in their community.  With five communities serving more than 750 older adults, a small percentage run out of money and need the kind help of others. Thank you for your most generous gifts that will provide for the continued care of these individuals in need.  This is truly an example of Galatians 6:2, "Carry each other's burdens and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ."

Support kenyaKenya Missions

Please know tha
t as we prepare our mission team for the upcoming trip to Kenya in June, we still need the help of others to make the endeavor a successful one in reaching many in Christ's name. We welcome cash donations to assist the children's home that we most generously support.  Any money given would help with food, clothing, and the education of the orphaned children who live at the Neema Children's Home. Over the next few weeks we are asking for donations for this purpose, but you can give to Kenya efforts anytime. Please make checks payable to SGPC with "Kenya" noted in the memo line.  As we are finalizing plans for this year's mission trip to Kenya in June, please give what you are able to assist these mission endeavors and pray for Saxe Gotha missionaries to help many in need during this trip.

Volunteer this Summer!

In the summer months we have the privilege of sharing the love of Christ each Tuesday evening with migrant workers from the farms in the Batesburg-Leesville area. The ministry this year begins on June 3rd and lasts through August 5th.

Each week volunteers meet at SGPC staff offices at 6:00 PM and usually return by 9:00 PM. While there, all will share a meal together, listen to a sermon (in Spanish) by Pastor Henry Alfaro, then group activities begin, such as arts/crafts and volleyball.
MigrantMin2012-3

We have needs for volunteers to set up and assist with recreational activities, serve food, provide fellowship and clean up afterwards.  It's a terrific summer ministry opportunity for individuals and families alike! To get involved, please contact Susan Herndon via email or phone (803.413.2973).

This is a wonderful way for families to serve others together!
Join us to share Christ's love with migrant workers in need this summer!

Message from Pastor Jim JimHeadshot09

Dear Fellow Servants of Jesus Christ,

This past Sunday we looked at Psalm 78, which outlines our responsibility to teach the next generation to follow the Lord. God commands us to tell our children what he has done so that they can in turn tell their children. In this way, our faith in the Lord is passed on from generation to generation. We at Saxe Gotha Presbyterian stand committed to this great work and ministry.

This week we will have the privilege of celebrating what God is doing among our students as we celebrate Youth Sunday. Our students will lead us in worship and share from God's word at both traditional services. There will be no AWE service this week so that we may gather together and recognize our graduates at the 11 a.m. traditional service. Our youth always do a wonderful job with this service. You will not want to miss it!

Please also remember that our Men's Fish Fry will take place this Thursday, May 15th from 6-8 P.M. We will meet on Pine Island for a wonderful time of fellowship, food and encouragement. Know that we'll be located under a covered shelter with canvas sides, so we'll be there rain or shine. This will be a great way to connect with other men in our congregation and community as we look at Jesus' call to be fishers of men. Donations to cover expenses will be accepted.

God is moving us in terrific ways here at Saxe Gotha!

Blessings!

Pastor Jim
