University of West Alabama

Teaching artists, community educators, and teachers:

Join us for an exciting new opportunity to learn about methods and resources for integrating folk and traditional arts across the curriculum.  By working in teams to complete a lesson plan to benefit the exhibit, ALABAMA in the MAKING:  Traditional Arts of People and Place, you will gain experience working with folklife archival collections.  The institute will explore opportunities to use these primary resources to design learner based lessons and assignments that incorporate the study of cultural expressions, representing family and community traditions, local artistic heritage, and ways of life.
