Richardson Tapped to Assemble Tax Panel

James Richardson Legislative leaders are working with LSU PAI Director Jim Richardson to assemble an independent panel of expert tax specialists to closely examine Louisiana's tax structure. It has been more than 25 years since the last major analysis of the state's tax make-up, and the proposed study will include evaluating tax exemptions, deductions, credits and rebates.

Accounting Dept. Offering Free Tax Assistance
 
VITA Logo The LSU E. J. Ourso Department of Accounting is operating a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance site, along with the Internal Revenue Service, to provide help to those who qualify this tax season. The tax service is open to anyone, not just those affiliated with LSU. Assistance will be available until April 10.

Hirschheim Earns LEO, ICIS Awards
 
The Association for Information Systems recently named Rudy Hirschheim, professor of information systems, as its LEO Award winner. The LEO Award recognizes outstanding individuals who have made a global impact in the field of information systems and is regarded as the highest honor given by the information systems community.

Soileau to Join Honors College Advisory Board

Jared Soileau, assistant professor in the LSU Department of Accounting and the Center for Internal Auditing, has been invited to serve as a member of the Honors College Advisory Board.  The board is made up of respective faculty representatives who guide the college's curricular development and offers a valuable source of advice and guidance for the Honors College.

Keep the Pace 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run March 14
   The LSU National Association of Women MBAs will host the sixth annual Keep the Pace 5K & 1-Mile Fun Run on Friday, March 14. Registration will begin at 5:15 p.m. at the Business Education Complex. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Charlotte Murray Pace Memorial MBA Scholarship with a small portion going to the NAWMBA Chapter Support Fund for professional development and networking opportunities.
