College Graduates 573 in Spring Ceremony
The LSU E. J. Ourso College of Business awarded 573 degrees during its spring 2013 diploma ceremony, which was held Friday, May 17. Among those earning their degrees were nine University Medalists and five doctoral students. In total, the college awarded 387 bachelor's and 181 master's degrees. Graduates represented 36 parishes, 25 states, and 19 foreign countries.

Phillips Named New Chair of Accounting
The LSU E. J. Ourso College of Business has announced it has named Tommy Phillips chair of the Department of Accounting. Phillips has served as the director of the School of Accountancy at Louisiana Tech University since 1995. His appointment is effective July 1. Phillips earned his master's in accounting from LSU in 1977, and taught his first accounting course at LSU.

Chandler Taking Over Chair Duties Fully
The LSU E. J. Ourso College of Business has announced that it has named Timothy Chandler chair of the Rucks Department of Management, July 1, 2013. Chandler serves currently as co-chair of the department and is taking over fully following the departure of Co-chair Hettie Richardson. Among Chandler's research interests is private and public sector labor relations.

VSA Donates $15K in Software to Finance
The Virtual Sales Assistant, LP has donated $15,000 worth of its Virtual Assistant software for use in the Department of Finance's CFP® Certification Education Program. The software will be installed on all Securities Markets Analysis Research and Trading Lab, or SMART Lab, computers. VSA Managing Partner Bill O'Quinn, an LSU alumnus, was instrumental in the donation.

Niedrich to Become Chair of Marketing
Ronald Niedrich will become the chair of the LSU E. J. Ourso College of Business' Department of Marketing, effective July 1, 2013. Niedrich currently holds the Robert S. Greer Chair in Marketing and is an E. Robert Theriot Professor in the department. Niedrich will be taking over for current Chair Alvin Burns, who has decided to return to the faculty and relinquish the chair.

Chinese Exchange Program Being Offered |
Beginning next spring, students of the LSU E. J. Ourso College of Business will have the opportunity to take part in a life-altering learning experience. The college has announced a new partnership with Hong Kong Polytechnic University that will allow students the chance to earn course credit while immersed in the business operations of an emerging market.

PhD Student Wins Oustanding Paper Award | |
Earlier this month, Rucks Department of Management PhD Student Jeffrey Muldoon was notified that his article, "The Hawthorne Legacy: A reassessment of the impact of the Hawthorne studies on mnagement scholarship, 1930-1958," had won the Emeral Literati Network 2012 Outstandning Paper award.
Doctoral Student Support is a key growth initiative of the LSU E. J. Ourso College of Business. For our departments to attract future members of academia, we must be able to provide them with adequate funding.
