E. J. Ourso College Graduates 285 in Fall 2012
 The LSU E. J. Ourso College of Business awarded 285 degrees during the fall 2012 diploma ceremony, which was held Friday, December 14, 2012. Among those earning their degrees were three University Medalists and three doctoral students. Graduates hailed from 33 parishes, 13 states, and 13 foreign countries.

LSU Flores MBAAA Donates 73K to Program
 The LSU Flores MBA Alumni Association presented the LSU Flores MBA Program with a check for $73,000 on December 13, 2012, at the group's annual holiday party. The event was held at Bistro Byronz. Attendees enjoyed complimentary appetizers and beverages and recounted the successes of the LSU Flores MBA Program in 2012.

ISDS Professor Receives Honorary Doctorate
 Rudy Hirschheim, Ourso Family Distinguished Professor of Information Systems, has been awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Bern's Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences. The doctorate, which was presented December 1, 2012, recognizes Hirschheim's research in the area of information systems.

Like Father, Like Son...and Daughter
 Tom Piland's professional career is successful by any standard. He has worked in large accounting firms, owned his own successful firm, and serves as the first vice president of Wealth Management at Merrill Lynch. Despite all of this, Piland's proudest feat is raising two LSU accountants of his own-his son, Stan, and his daughter, Ashton.

CFP Board Renews Finance Department Registrations | |
The Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards has announced the renewal of the CFP Board registered programs in the Department of Finance. The programs are the Bachelor's of Science in Finance with a specialization in Financial Planning and the Master's of Science in Finance with a specialization in Financial Planning.
