This Week In Junior-High Sports: JH-Girl's Basketball Tuesday, 2/16, 4pm, vs Knowledge Quest Wednesday, 2/17, 4pm vs Westridge Academy
Season Highlights: We had a beautiful day for a ground-breaking ceremony last Tuesday. Thanks to all who showed up and all who support Liberty Common High School. We now count the days until the gym is complete. Here is a link to the Coloradoan article that highlighted the event: Coloradoan: Liberty Common Breaking New Ground
Booster-Club Committee Forming. If you have any interest in athletics and are considering deepening your support for the school by volunteering, Mr. Knab suggests joining the LCHS Booster Club. This is a parent-run club that is very instrumental in the success of our athletic programs. There is a lot of work that has been put into this club, but most of the weight has been carried by a very small few. Our vision is to build the LCHS Booster Club to a number of people that would make the work light. Being at every athletic contest is not required. Members can go to the games or events that interest them....and free of charge. Thank you for considering this opportunity. If you are interested, contact LCHS Booster Club President, Rebecca Finkel.

Art Volunteers Needed, No Experience Required
Art Room Volunteers are needed for 2nd grade, 1st Grade, and Kinder Art classes starting at 12:00:
Help students and read aloud as they work on their projects. You don't have to have any special art skill, a child in that grade or class. Just be willing to help students do their best job and prepare materials. It's a lot of fun!

Winter Carnival Through the Eyes of a Kid
By Casey Churchill, LCS Principal
Step 1: Put on bright blue Hawaiian Fruit Jam shirt and put up the collar. Step 2: Take comb out of back pocket and feather hair. Put a part on the side. Step 3: Roll or pin blue jeans around the ankle or just put on a pair of parachute pants and call it a day. These are the three steps I took to look cool in 6th grade. Yes, I was a break dancer. I had the cardboard duct taped to the basement floor and listened to the sound track of Breakin'2: Electric Boogaloo over and over again. The picture above is proof. The 80s were a great time for me. I grew up with two valley girl sisters who kept me informed on the latest trends. I love looking at old pictures like this and reminiscing about old times and how far we have all come. No more parachute pants or Hawaiian shirts for me. The Winter Carnival brings back these memories as I watch the excitement in our students and parents. This party is a big deal and will be very exciting for all that attend. Liberty's after school party isn't just bouncy houses and pizza. This after school event-when seen through the eyes of a kid-is a full-on winter carnival with magical castles, games, cars, and immersive crafts with an indulgent feast. This years theme is the 80s. What wonderful memories the 80s bring. Students will be treated to 80s music that I am sure will bring back memories to all the parents, a banquet of incredible food and lots of sodas! We will have two bouncy houses for the kids. There is nothing better than bouncing up and down listening to the song Footloose! Crafts will be abundant on all sides of the gym. We hope you can make it to this mid-year celebration! Thanks to all the families that will be joining us for this fun filled event. It may be chilly out, but all the excitement will warm things right up. What a great opportunity to see you all and to catch up on the school year. We are so fortunate to have families with a common vested interest in supporting one another and raising our children the best we can. Liberty's Winter Carnival is only made magical through the efforts of our committed volunteers. Thank you to Hannah Knecht for her leadership in organizing this year's Winter Carnival. Thank you to all that will be setting up, running the craft booths and activities, and helping clean up at the end. We truly appreciate your commitment to our school and students. Volunteers are need to make the Winter Carnival a success. CLICK HERE to Volunteer CLICK HERE bring in donations
