Some time ago a friend of mine, a struggling entrepreneur, complained that he couldn't seem to get his business off the ground. His marketing strategies fizzled, the people he hired used him and disappeared, he would miss opportunities to network with important people.  The bottom line -- he said he suffered from bad luck.

I have my own ideas about the inner workings of luck. I too once suffered from "bad fortune" before I realized that most of my misfortunes were the fruits of my own self-defeating actions. Once I began thinking positively, stopped seeing myself as a victim of circumstances, and began attracting success and prosperity instead of doom and gloom, my life improved significantly. My "luck" changed!

I don't think "luck" just happens. Luck doesn't fall from the heavens to bless some people while others miss out and are doomed to misfortune. I spoke with my friend for a long time about changing his mental programming so that his external reality would change in response to new thinking.

I am a hypnotist, and my friend asked if I could use hypnotism to implant these suggestions in his subconscious. I considered the idea. I have hypnotism audio CDs for weight reduction, smoking cessation, and other conditions, but had never considered hypnotic suggestions for luck.

I distilled my ideas about luck into four affirmations, and while my friend was in a light state of hypnotic induction, I repeated these suggestions to him, over and over.

The experiment worked far better than I had anticipated. He reported his progress to me over the next few weeks. It was as if his luck had completely reversed itself. He began to attract better customers and more reliable help. He found himself, seemingly by pure chance, meeting influential people. He bought a scratch-off ticket and won $50.

Below are the four affirmations I gave my friend. You don't need hypnosis to put these affirmations into action. The techniques taught and practiced by the Crystal Silence League, Projection and Attraction, work perfectly. 

In my opinion, luck consists of four simple axioms, which can be repeated and reinforced daily as affirmations. These can be integrated into Projection and Attraction work with a crystal.

(1) Luck is a matter of timing.
I will be in the right place at the right time. I'll become sensitive to opportunities that lead to fortunate outcomes, avoid situations that lead to unfortunate outcomes, and quit giving control to external influences over my fate.

(2) Luck is a byproduct of planning.
I will program my decisions, both conscious and subconscious, the small and the large, to build up to greater and greater fortune and success.

(3) Luck follows Luck.
I will surround myself with successful, positive people, and avoid negative, unproductive people.

(4) I will claim my Luck.
There is a storehouse of luck in the universe waiting for me. I am ready to claim it, to enjoy the fruits of success, and to shoulder the responsibilities of fortune and success.

Sometimes when I discuss New Thought to people who are stuck in skeptical or cynical mindsets, I'm told that it can't be that simple to change your entire life just by changing the way you think. But it is. I've seen people do it every day.

There is one condition. It isn't easy to change the way we think. Forming new mental habits requires persistent and consistent effort. Breaking old mental attitudes is even more difficult. But the rewards of these efforts are extraordinary. You have to have faith!
