Can You Help Support Kid's Mental Health?
|
 The Surrey Hospital & Outpatient Centre Foundation needs your help, They are less than $200,000 away from their goal to raise $2 million by the end of the year to create a much-needed child and adolescent mental health unit in Surrey.
South Surrey and White Rock Chamber of Commerce members Cloverdale Paint and Black Press are signature sponsors of this campaign, and your Chamber Board of Directors have endorsed this project. Every Donation Makes a Difference. Your contribution is much more than just a donation - it's an investment in the mental health services for the most vulnerable.
Your gift will help provide a 10 bed short-stay psychiatric unit. The new unit will provide immediate care for children and adolescents with severe mental health problems who need to stay in hospital for a 5-7 day stay to be assessed and stabilized.
Please give by December 31st so they can meet their fundraising goal in time for construction to begin in 2016. Become a champion for care and help our kids.

With a marketing background and some pretty fantastic and irreplaceable sales experience under my belt, I decided to take the plunge and embark upon a new journey to open up my own home decor and lifestyle shop. Our shop family includes myself, my husband and (financially wise) business partner Pav, and our shop "guard" dog (who needs some work on the guarding part), Colbie.
We opened our doors on August 18th, and followed with a grand opening on September 12th. Friendly visitors from all around the neighborhood peeked in to watch the construction and set up of the shop, and shared our excitement as it all came together. White Rock is a beautiful city, and we are so excited to be part of offering a new and refreshing shopping experience for our customers. Change and growth are upon White Rock, and The Handpicked Home is lucky to be amongst the beginning stages of these growing times.
A successful business is important to us, but how we make it successful is equally pertinent, and our support-local initiatives will allow us to grow our local economy and help provide work for those closest to us. It has been a rewarding experience finding unique designs for The Handpicked Home that come from across British Columbia, through Alberta and all the way to Ontario!
