CoreLIFE

Bay Hills Community - This is the time of the year to extend thanks to your 2012 Board of Directors, especially to those who have worked hard over the last three years or longer and, having supported our community, are now returning to the private life of leisure.

Bob Ray, our super treasurer, has decided not to re-up for another three years. He will surely be missed as he has done a fantastic job for you and the board. His efforts often extended well beyond that of the treasurer's duties. He is a true leader with many business connections that contributed to effectiveness of your capabilities. Bob - again, as we have so many times expressed - Thank You.

Our secretary, Joyce Smithey will be passing the pen on to a yet-to-be named new secretary. Thanks to Joyce for all her years of recording and guidance. She will remain on the board to share her expertise for at least another year.

I too will be exiting as your president and am not a part of the 2013 board. It has been my honor to serve the community for the past several years; as a member at large, then treasurer, vice president and the last few years as your president. Getting to know the neighbors and volunteers who have participated on the board over those years has been a very positive experience. A lot has been accomplished and a continued stream of good times and challenges lay ahead in the community's future. We are all very fortunate we live in such a great place.

Having said that, the fun of Halloween week and the challenge of the impending Hurricane Sandy is right in front of us as I write this note. Hopefully, as you read this you will be laughing about the Sandy stories and starting to focus on the holiday season.

Recapping the last 30 days:

  • We held our annual meeting on the 10th of October
  • We welcomed four board members to the Bay Hills Community Association:
    • Shannon Pierce
    • Florence Hartmen
    • Steve Sheesley
    • Bob Cepek
    • Pat Nolan has also offered to return to the board to share his expertise with the 2013 class.

Please thank them for their service to the community when you see them. We look forward to putting a wrap on this year and starting anew with fresh minds on the board and a new leadership team. FYI - Board leadership positions are determined at the first meeting after each board meeting.

Major issues the 2013 board will be tackling include:

  • The "Basket Ball Park"
  • The Bay Hills Watershed and the Bay Green Drive Dam and the County's plans and activities.
  • The refreshing of the Bay Hills Drive entrance
  • New roof on the pavilion

All good stuff for the enhancement of the Bay Hills Community.

Please remember that Daylight Savings Fall Back takes place Sunday, November 4. As the light dwindles this time of year, keep a keen eye out for walkers and joggers throughout the neighborhood. And to all you walking and jogging, please wear light, reflective clothing. Safety first!

Serving the community,

Jeff Burkhart
