Dear Friends,
We all know the familiar ripples that spread out from a stone tossed in a pond. Beth Miller is a teacher, mother and former TurningPoint patient who is committed to making a difference in the lives of breast cancer survivors - making use of the ripple effect. Through her breast cancer experience, Beth developed the conviction that women going through breast cancer had physical and emotional needs that were often not met, and that specialized rehabilitation and exercise were critical in meeting those needs. In response, Beth created TurningPoint's Edith Van Riper-Haase Breast Cancer Rehabilitation Advocacy Fund, in memory of her mother. The fund will support TurningPoint 2013 - our first breast cancer rehabilitation and exercise conference for healthcare providers. Beth cast the stone that will create the ripple. As more healthcare providers become aware of women's needs and the role of breast cancer rehabilitation, countless women with breast cancer will be impacted by Beth's generosity and willingness to make a difference in the lives of others.

A Patient's Perspective: Honoring My Mother and Supporting the 1st Annual TurningPoint National Healthcare Provider Conference
by Beth Van Riper Miller I have been a very grateful patient at TurningPoint. My mom died after a brave fight with ovarian cancer. I was looking for a way to perpetuate my mother's advocacy efforts, and after speaking with Jill, I decided that TurningPoint would be a fantastic organization to create a fund in my mother's name. We set up the "Edith Van Riper-Haase Breast Cancer Rehabilitation Advocacy Fund" and I'm happy to announce the first sponsored event--TurningPoint 2013: Breast Cancer Rehabilitation Multidisciplinary Conference.
