Dear (Contact First Name),

Care. Compassion. Clinical Excellence. Three words that summarize what TurningPoint Breast Cancer Rehabilitation means to thousands of Atlanta women who have battled breast cancer. I am excited to announce that we will carry this commitment to a new, larger and more accessible clinic in August, 2013. Our new location will allow us to better serve women with breast cancer and expand our healthcare provider and community education programs. I am deeply grateful to the generous donors, grantors and volunteers who have been touched by the work we do and made the move possible. This is a milestone in TurningPoint's history and a wonderful way to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. We look forward to continuing our mission as a provider and advocate of breast cancer rehabilitation on the local and national level in our new home!

Reflections on TurningPoint
by Marcia Pearl, Board Chair and Physical Therapist
In the 1960's and early 1970's, I was an ardent feminist. I railed at the medical profession that largely ignored women's health issues. The Evidence Update in this newsletter (below) addresses the unmet needs of women with breast cancer. When I was diagnosed in 1988, there were no services of any kind to help me overcome the physical and emotional issues I faced. I am honored to be involved in an organization that strives to meet the unmet needs of women with breast cancer. In late summer, TurningPoint is moving to a new and larger facility on Roswell Road just south of Northridge Road. Read more of Marcia's reflections on TurningPoint and our upcoming move...

Patient Perspective:  Tracy Chastain

Thank You Turning Point!

I was diagnosed on October 27, 2011 with stage 2 Triple Negative Breast Cancer. Since it was determined to be a large, rapidly growing tumor, it was decided that I should undergo chemotherapy first.

 Tracy Chastain

After four months of chemo treatment, I scheduled a double mastectomy surgery. When I woke up from surgery, I was told the chemo worked...my biopsy came back negative for cancer! I was very happy! Since I had opted for immediate reconstruction, I was in dire need of physical therapy.

Evidence Update:  Study of Breast Cancer Survivors' Support Needs

Woman stares thru window A recent study from London, England explores the   unmet support needs of people with breast cancer. One  hundred and  one  patients completed a specially designed questionnaire focusing on their concerns in the  previous week, and  whether they felt  they had  been  offered  sufficient support from  health professionals. A series of  semi-structured interviews were then completed in order to gain insight into the need for future development of services for patients with breast cancer.    Read further about this study...
