| Dear Friends,
I love to row. Fifteen years ago, my husband, Alan, tucked a gently used 25 foot rowing scull under the Christmas tree - with my name on it. Over the years, that scull was paddled, patched and duct-taped. It saw me through many of life's challenges, including two rounds of breast cancer. Being alone on the water was a comfort - a break from thinking about the changes breast cancer had made to my body and soul. When it became clear that the old scull needed to be retired last year, it was like trading in an old friend. I am thrilled to be back on the water this summer with a brand new scull. I am filled with gratitude and wonder as I paddle in the early morning, when the sun is just peaking above the trees and the mist is rising off the water. I almost forget I am exercising!
Breast cancer is tough. Let TurningPoint help you get back to what you are passionate about!

Patient Perspective: Claire Friedman
At 39 years old, my life changed forever. At the end of August 2012, I found a lump in my breast. After going to my primary care doctor, I was sent to Northside Hospital for a mammogram which resulted in a core biopsy. On September 12, 2012, I received the call that all women dread - I had infiltrating ductile carcinoma. To translate, I had breast cancer. No one can be prepared for that call.

Evidence Update: Massage Therapy for Patients with Metastatic Cancer
The effects of massage therapy for patients with metastatic cancer were investigated in a recent study
done at Harvard University. Forty-two patients with metastatic cancer, including 22 with breast cancer, were randomly allocated to one of three treatment groups: massage, a 'no-touch' control intervention and usual care (no interaction with a massage therapist).
