September 2014
The change in seasons also brings a change in road conditions. End of summer requires alertness in school zones along with extra caution in rainy conditions. Check out our road condition tips below along with what you need in order to be prepared for a roadside emergency.

And while you're at it, why not ensure the even wear of your tires? Rotating your tires periodically is an essential part of tire maintenance. The main purpose of regular rotation is to achieve uniform wear for all tires on the vehicle.

This month at Frisco Automotive we are offering a FREE tire rotation with a full service oil change.

So call us today or go online to set up an appointment to improve the performance and life expectancy of your tires.

Remember, it's about the journey, so enjoy the road and stay cool.

Happy Travels!

Slippery When Wet

Now that the kids have gone back to school we can relax. Or can we? With Autumn right around the corner, there are a few more things to look out for when driving on the roads.

The following conditions make driving a little more challenging this time of year, so it's best to be alert:

Rain- not only do roads become slick in general but oil rises to the surface making it harder to stop.

Leaves- while not the most noticeable road hazard, on occasion cars can lose control when hitting a patch of wet leaves.

School Zones and Kids - those 20 MPH signs are back on meaning it's time to be more patient and plan more time to get where you are going. Also remember, no texting in school zones.

Emergency Roadside Kit

What you need to be prepared         Reflector Warning Triange

Even a well-maintained vehicle can break down, so it's advisable to put together an emergency roadside kit to carry with you at all times. A cell phone tops the list of suggested emergency kit contents since it allows you to call for help when and where you need it. But remember, you may not get cell service in all areas, so carrying a map is always recommended.

Here's what to have in your emergency roadside kit:

* Cell phone
* First aid kit
* Flashlight
* Flares and a white flag
* Jumper cables
* Jack (and ground mat) for changing a tire
* Work gloves
* Basic repair tools and some duct tape (for temporarily repairing a hose leak)
* Jug of water and paper towels for cleaning up
* Non perishable food and drinking water
* Extra windshield washer fluid
* Maps

So keep your cool knowing that you'll be ready for whatever the road ahead has in store for you!  If you have questions on preparing your vehicle for roadside safety call us or come in today.  (972) 335-9823
