Themed Silent Auction Packages - The Ambassador committee will be contacting members for silent auction package items. This year's fundraiser will be themed packages and multiple business donations will be compiled to create a fun package experience. Example: Romantic Night-Out Package may include a restaurant certificate, overnight certificate, carriage ride, etc. Centerpieces are being requested for the banquet that promote members' business. Keep in mind the TIME Magazine theme when creating your centerpiece. Promote your top achievement in 2015. Tables will have seating for 8-10 people if you plan to have a trinket for your business for attendees to take home. The Yankton School District has received a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the 13th year in a row.
Kolberg-Pioneer, Inc. has received the prestigious Astec Industries Founder's Award for 2015 for outstanding performance.
Yankton Medical Clinic, P.C. surgeons Ryan Garry, MD, Jesse Kampshoff, MD and Luke Serck, MD donated $75,000 toward the adding turf at the Sertoma baseball fields and another $25,000 for improvements at the fields north of Yankton High School for the Yankton Girls Softball Association.
RTEC has received a community development block grant from the SD Governor's Office of Economic Development to help pay for new Computer Numberic Controlled Machining equipment.
The Yankton Elks Lodge #994 has awarded six $300 scholarships to high school seniors based on leadership abilities, classroom performance and financial need.
The Yankton Seed Library is officially open. Monthly classes on various topics are available to help the public learn how to grow a garden.
Jae Koletzky of Koletzky Implement was a Business Delegate for a legislative briefing sponsored by the SD Retailers Association in Pierre.

In the first meeting of the year the Yankton County Commission reorganized and I was re-elected as the Chair.
We have not experienced a typical South Dakota winter for many years but 2016 is looking like a traditional winter. We are experiencing subzero temperatures along with an abundance of snow and wind that is keeping the Highway Department busy clearing the roads.

Yankton's Convention & Visitors Bureau is seeking nominations for a new award recognizing leaders in tourism.
Nominations should be for an individual or organization making strikes to attract new visitors to Yankton or improve their overall experience through events, media, business ventures or other means.
