 10 Tips

That Will Make You Stand Out

Have you ever wondered what you could do to differentiate yourself from all of the other applicants when applying and interviewing for a job?  We got these great tips from the businesses below who participated in our Employer Forum last November.

1. Show passion and confidence in the interview

2. Don't forgot to send a thank you note - it will differentiate you from others

3. When leaving phone messages keep them brief, polite and upbeat

4. If rejected, remember to foster the relationship - other opportunities may follow from the employer

5. Be able to answer the question "what will you bring to the table"

6. Your resume should have specific and measurable achievements - $'s, #'s, %'s

7. If you have been in transition - show skill building activity in your time off

8. Past behavior predicts future results - be ready to talk about your accomplishments and their relevance to the job you are applying for

9. Show a desire to work for the company by researching and asking strong questions

10. Know the requirements/job description and be able to answer why you can do the job - tailor your answers to their needs not your own
