Re: Invitation to Sayra and Neil Meyerhoff Center for Families, Children and the Courts Truancy Court Program Workshop

Greetings! :

This past year, the University of Baltimore School of Law Sayra and Neil Meyerhoff Center for Families, Children and the Courts (CFCC), in partnership with the Baltimore City Public Schools Office of Attendance and Truancy and the Circuit and District Courts for Baltimore City, has operated a Truancy Court Program (TCP) in eight Baltimore City elementary/middle, middle, and high schools.

Read a brief overview of the TCP

As we conclude the TCP for the 2012-2013 school year, we wish to share updates about the TCP with you, present an overview of the 2013-2014 TCP, and solicit your feedback and questions about the TCP. We invite you and a member of your staff to attend a one-day workshop on CFCC's Truancy Court Program. The workshop - A Truancy Court Program for Baltimore City: Positive Results for Children, Families, Schools and Communities - will take place on Monday, June 24 from 9:00 am to 2pm at the University of Baltimore Student Center, Fifth Floor, 21 West Mount Royal Avenue.

During this workshop, we will hear from the principals and administrators of schools that have implemented the TCP, a volunteer judge, and CFCC representatives. In addition, we will discuss plans for continuing the TCP, including the TCP application process and selection of new schools for the program.

We hope that you can join us for this important workshop. While you do not have to attend this workshop in order to apply for the TCP, preference is given to those schools that send a representative to the workshop. In addition, we plan to provide attendees with information about how schools can directly fund operation of the TCP.

We would appreciate it if you could complete the response form and e-mail it to Mr. Christopher Gibson, CFCC's Administrative Assistant, [email protected], or call Mr. Gibson at 410-837-5180 by June 14, 2013. Please do not hesitate to contact Gloria Danziger ([email protected] or 410-837-5613) or Andrea Bento ([email protected] or 410-837-5614) if you have any questions. We look forward to hearing from you.
