 We will again offer  unique ways to study Hebrew language, Israeli  culture, and explore  contemporary Jewish issues. The year will be rich  and rewarding, filled  with friends, learning and insights. Click on the  links for the Registration Forms

WHAT CAN YOU LEARN AT HS@AKIVA?
   

 Hebrew  

 Hebrew language classes will  continue to be at the forefront  of our program. Students will  study twice a week at levels from  beginner to advanced. Many area  high schools give credit for High  School @Akiva language classes.

 

 In addition, this year HS@Akiva will bring back its Hebrew  tutoring program. If you are a HS@Akiva student that needs to  work with a Hebrew teacher outside of class time (missed a  session; sports, sports and...sports) this tutoring service is for  you. Please contact us and we will coordinate a convenient time  and place to meet with our Hebrew tutor. 

 This service is FREE  for HS@akiva students.


 

 Torah High
 

Torah High is now on Tuesday  nights. Classes wil

l aim to teach  what is at the core of Judaism,  revealing a deep religion that is  applicable to modern life.

 

 

 

 Beit Midrash

 Switching to Thursday  nights, the  courswill host  a variety of  teachers who  will explore and  debate the  topics related to being  a  Jew in our time. More details  about the specific teachers and  experiences TBA.

THE ZIGZAG KID - A MANDEL JCC'S JEWISH FILMFEST AND JECC SPECIAL SCREENING
 

 Nono wants to be like his father - the best  police  inspector in the world - but he  constantly gets in trouble.  Two days before  his Bar Mitzvah, he is sent  away to  his  uncle Sjmoel, who is supposed to get him  back on  track.  However, during the train  ride Nono gets one  last chance to prove  himself... Together with master-  burglar  Felix Glick - an old acquaintance of  his  father -  he stops the train and enters a  world of disguises,  chases,  French  chansons and Zohara, a mysterious  woman whose secrets will  change Nono's life forever.  For  trailer, click below:

THE HANOCH PIVEN EXHIBIT

 

 

 The colorful and witty illustrations of  Israeli  illustrator Hanoch Piven  have appeared  throughout the last 20  years on both sides of the  Atlantic: in  major American magazines and  newspapers such as Time, Newsweek,  Rolling  Stone and in many European  publications from  The London Times  to the Swiss Die WeltWoche. 

 

 Piven's artwork has expanded from the  pages of  magazines into other media:  from children's books  to interactive  exhibitions, apps for the iPad,  advertising campaigns and TV  programs. Piven's  upcoming book is Let's Make Faces to be  published by Atheneum in August 2013. For more information  about Piven's  Art click on me or watch the following TED talk

 HS@Akiva will go to Let's Make  Faces:  Communicating identity  through Pop  Art - a tour of the exhibit  led by the  Cleveland Shin  Shiniot.
