Dear HS@Akiva families and friends,

 

This Sunday, March 10, is the @Aroma in Cleveland event and we would like to share with you some important information. The @Aroma in Cleveland Day is a communal event for all HS students and their families. Parents, please note:

This will be a HS@Akiva day taking the place of our 

Tuesday, March 12 classes.

There will be no classes on Tuesday, March 12.

 

The cafe will be open from 12-5pm, and will offer important Israel-enrichment programs (see the schedule below) as well as the famous Israeli treat. We recommend that the students come from 2-4pm.

 

The event will take place at the Federation Mandel Building, 25701 Science Park Drive, Cleveland, Ohio 44122. 

 

We hope to see all of you on the 10th!

Israel Awards Ceremony

Be a part of the awarding of the first ever Israel involvement/devotion/commitment/advocacy prize awarded annually to teens from the four youth movements, BBYO, NFTY, USY and NCSY who are dedicated leaders in their community, show a commitment to Israel, advocacy and/or education and demonstrate a desire to continue their connection to Israel and the Jewish people.

Lecture: Coffee Culture War: Starbucks vs Aroma-with Aviad Israeli (Ben -Gurion University, Kent State University) 

Aroma and Starbucks are two big coffee players.  Each has a different philosophy about making and selling coffee as a central component of our modern life.  The "coffee war" is quite intense.  Different companies attempt to capture coffee drinkers.  Some succeed, some fail.  This presentation will focus on the coffee war in the US and abroad, discuss the coffee drinking habits of Americans, Europeans and Israelis and will demonstrate why Starbucks gained success in the US and failed in Israel.  In addition, the presentation will evaluate the potential of bringing the Aroma concept to international markets including the US.

Learn about the Israel climate on college campuses today, and The David Project's unique approach to Israel advocacy. The David Project's Campus Engagement Manager will answer all of your questions including the opportunities and challenges for Jewish college students throughout the country.
