Does Your Spouse Have Long Term Care Coverage?

While many firefighters have protected their families from potential long term care costs for themselves, few have arranged for long term care protection for their spouse. With arthritis and Alzheimer's Disease accounting for the majority of long term care costs in the United States, both you and your spouse are likely to need long term care in the future. The good news is that your spouse is eligible for the same great NPFBA Long Term Care Plan with its affordable rates that you are. Your spouse can choose from benefit Plans starting at either $150 per day or $130 per day for as little as $23 a month. Both Plan options provide coverage for Skilled Care, Residential/Assisted Living and Home Health Care. For the first 15 years, the per day benefit increases 5% compounded each year.

Don't wait until you and your spouse approach retirement to invest in long term care coverage. NPFBA rates are based on your age when you joined the Plan. The rates increase with your age. The cost for joining at age 40, $72 per month, is much easier to work into your budget than the cost of waiting until age 60, $208 per month. Also, you must join before you turn 61 or retire.
