Greetings!
Time to dig out the sweaters, warm socks, and the stretchy pants. It's Autumn! The harvest is coming in. Our kitchens may have the delightful smell of homemade zucchini bread, pumpkin pie, baked apples and other wonderful treats we enjoy this time of year. It's really hard not go after that 2nd or 3rd helping. Especially if whipped cream is involved! Yummy fall treats really bring a smile to our face. Speaking of smiles...How is yours? Does it need a little polishing? We can do that! We have 8 wonderful hygienists ready to give you a cleaning that is top notch. Do you need more than a cleaning? We have 5 highly qualified dentists ready to fix any issue you may have. But this is not all you can do to transform your smile into a healthy, beautiful expression. We can now do Botox at Delmarva Dental Services. Not only does Botox relax your muscles to make lines disappear, it can also relax them to help you stop clenching, which causes jaw pain and other dental issues. Would you like to know more about this procedure? Give our office a call at 410-742-3000. We will be glad to help you. |

The farmer portrayed in this famous painting was actually the artist's dentist!

Joey G! Inspiration, encouragement, and attitude adjustments come to us when least expected and sometimes in ways we cannot imagine or from people we don't even know. We are human and it is easy to get all wrapped up in our own life and our own problems so much that we lose focus on all the good we have. We stop noticing that there are some who have it very difficult and their issues make ours look small. About 2 years ago a package was delivered to our office. In this package was a box of some of the most beautiful, fun, yummiest cookies you will ever taste from Aunt Jo's Sweet Shop. Attached to this box was a gel bracelet with "No One Fights Alone" on one side and "Joey G" on the other. I have never met this young man but the effect he has had on my life and my outlook has been tremendous. Joey G is one of 5 children. He started having seizures, unrelated to epilepsy, when he was 4 years old. This slowed him down a bit but did not stop him. When he was 17, he had a terrible seizure and with his mom's intuition and insistence, the doctors did CAT scans and massive brain tumors were found. Joey has had 2 brain surgeries and has undergone several radiation and chemo treatments. This would stop most of us in our tracks but not Joey G! He even participated in the Four Seasons Run and Walk benefiting cancer research at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia last year. He loves the Philadelphia Eagles and went to a game where he cheered them on. Like most young men his age, he loves his x-box. Make a Wish Foundation gave him his wish to be on set for the NCIS finale. He went to Disney and had the time of his life. Joey graduated from high school in 2013 and is planning on attending classes at a local community college this fall. Joey G is making every minute count! He is not letting his problems get in the way of living life to the fullest! My Joey G bracelet has been on my wrist every day since I got it. It is more valuable to me than a diamond bracelet. It is a constant reminder to me that there are others out there fighting bigger battles. It is a reminder that I have so much to be thankful for. It is a reminder that our joy for life comes from within. We can live it to the fullest like Joey G does or we can wallow in self pity. We can reach for our dreams like Joey or we can lament that nothing good comes to us. It is our choice. We don't know what tomorrow will bring our way so we need to make the best of every day. A year ago, Joe Stowell wrote in "Our Daily Bread": Capturing the moment means that we'll do things like love more deeply, forgive more quickly, listen more carefully, and speak more affirmingly. Joey G captures the moments. Joey's story has made me more attune to capturing the moments as well. Make every moment count and when life's troubles come your way, smile and think of Joey and others like him who face life altering situations every single day. Smile and say "It will all be ok, it will all work out," and then fix it. And pray....
Insurance
It is hard to believe it is fall already. The beaches have emptied, school is back in session, vacations are all but done and we are starting to think ahead to all of the holidays that are heading our way. They kind of sneak up on us! Before we know it, the end of the year is here and we are swamped with a lot of things to do. Then it hits us....we still have dental work we need to have done and we have insurance benefits we will lose if we don't use them!
Insurance....it can be a little complicated to understand at times. Your dentist tells you need a particular treatment and then your insurance company denies it. What? Why? Who's telling the truth? Do you need that treatment or not?
Insurance companies are not looking at what dental treatment is best for you. They are looking at what is allowed in your plan. Once they determine what your plan allows, they will pay just a portion of that up to the plan maximum. If they deny a certain course of treatment, it doesn't mean you don't need it.
We at Delmarva Dental Services have your best interests at heart. We recommend treatment that is best for you, not your insurance company (if you have insurance). We believe wholeheartedly in our Mission Statement: Delmarva Dental Services will thoroughly explain ALL dental treatment options, provide treatment that looks and feels great, is long lasting and creates optimum dental health.
Do you have a question about your insurance? Give us a call, we will be happy to help you.

The only thing constant is change
__Heraclitus | |
Times change, leaves change, people change, situations change, technology is always changing, the only thing constant is change. So stated a Greek philosopher. How right he was! We live in an ever changing world.
We have made another change at Delmarva Dental Services. We have changed companies that do automated appointment reminders. Some folks like lots of reminders, some only need one. To help us serve you better, we need your opinions. We will be sending out an email to explain how it will work. Please let us know what you think.
Speaking of change....do you need one? On the first day of winter, we are going to treat someone to a $25 gift certificate to Ruby Tuesday's along with a $25 gift certificate to Regal Cinema. Just reply to this newsletter with your name, address and phone number. Must be 18 years or older to win. Winner will be notified via phone and/or email on or around Dec 23, 2013. The winner's name will be announced in the winter newsletter. The winner consents to the use of their name in our newsletter. One entry per person will be accepted. No substitutions permitted. Winner will be determined by a random drawing from all submissions received. Enter today!
Congratulations to Michelle S., winner of our summer newsletter drawing! |
