Board Corner
Greetings from the board. Very soon you will receive a letter from Jerry Berman and me about annual fund and endowment.

Why do we need an annual fund? In an effort to keep tuition affordable for as many students in our community as possible, the tuition amount is set at only 90% of the actual cost of providing the curriculum. That means that to cover all the teachers and staff salaries, keep the lights on and pay the rent, we need to make up the additional 10% in annual fund, an amount that comes to $100,000 for this years' students.

How much should I give? A general rule of thumb is to give 10% of the tuition you pay since that is the shortfall in what it costs to provide for your student. However, the most important thing is to give something, whatever you are able. We are very proud that 100% of our board has already given and traditionally 100% of our families and staff donate. This 100% is what we use to try and get other grants and to qualify for programs like the generations endowment program.

How is annual fund different than endowment? The annual fund covers the cost of education today. The endowment and matching grants from the generations program provide for students and the school into the future. To make our goal for matching grants from the generations program, we need to raise $20,000 more by June of next year.

Why give to the school? The money you donate today to annual fund is used today for education and to enrich the programs your child will receive this school year. As a small school, your gift is even more meaningful. So please look for the letter in the mail, and give generously to support your child, your school, and your community.
