Board Corner
When is a school event more than a school event? Certainly the Daniel Pearl World Music Days Concert has a lot going for it: good music, a good cause, and a chance to see all the kids together with students from neighboring schools. But what is remarkable is what the event says about our school. Weizmann Day School is committed to teaching the value of
Tikkun Olam, making the world a better place. If you have a chance to visit Washington DC, and all the exceptional museums there, there is one called Newseum that honors journalists worldwide. One exhibit speaks to how difficult and dangerous it is to be a journalist in so many parts of the world and it is in that exhibit that Daniel Pearl's laptop and passport are on display. This makes his sacrifice and dedication very real. World peace has to start with one person, perhaps a Weizmann graduate, doing the right thing. On a recent visit I had to DC, I was able to meet with our congressperson, Judy Chu, who had attended the Daniel Pearl Concert last year. She discussed how amazing the school was and how important these efforts are. Weizmann may be small, but what Weizmann kids can do someday is enormous.

Hands-on Science!

Kindergarten students exclaim, "lettuce show you how to garden!"

Science is "eggstremely eggciting" in middle school as demonstrated by the naked egg experiment.

Resilience is...
...the ability to harness your inner strength so you can rebound from a setback or challenge.  Resilience does not make life's problems go away; rather it gives you the ability to see past the problems and to continue rolling with the punches.  Click the link below to learn 10 things you can do right now to help you raise more resilient children.

We know how important it is for students to eat nutritious meals and snacks.  Please help them sustain their energy throughout the school day by avoiding sending candy and other sugar-filled foods.  Also, please remind your children, as we do, that it is for safety reasons that they may not share their food with others.
