The Scientific Method in Action
Is it an acid or a base?

Middle school scientists conduct an experiment to determine if common chemicals are an acid or a base.   
They use the Scientific Method to help answer the question!

Shanah Tovah! I hope everyone had a good start to the new year. As we head into Yom Kippur, we often remember family and loved ones who have departed. For this Yom Kippur I would like to also remember a lovely Weizmann staff member, Cathy Ryne. A few years back I was worried about something with my kids, perhaps that they didn't have anyone to play with at recess. I shared this with Miss Cathy, who said, "Don't worry, I'll keep an eye out". Everytime I saw Miss Cathy after that, she would hurry up to me, with a big smile, and tell me how great my kids were doing. She kept doing that long after I forgot what I was worried about. Maya Angelou said, "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." 
For this Yom Kippur, I will remember Cathy Ryne who made me feel that my kids were being looked out for.

Alumni In Action...
Kudos to Weizmann alum Liam L. for his two most recent musical appearances. Liam -- a graduate of the Berklee School of Music in Boston -- played mandolin and fiddle with bands at Griffins of Kinsale in South Pasadena on Sept 11, and at the Tam O'Shanter restaurant in Los Feliz on Sept 12.
Important REMINDERS:
12:15 dismissal on Tuesday, 9/22, in observance of Kol Nidrei, ASA ends at 3:00 pm.

School is closed on Wednesday, 9/23, for Yom Kippur.

Attention 5th-8th grade boys:  If you are interested in playing after school sports on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 3:30-5:00 pm, please let Coach Erik know by the end of September.
